My buddy has a Chesapeake retriever but we don't bring him with crane hunting for that reason. They have an affinity for stabbing dogs eyes out. Typically if they aren't completely dead when they hit the ground they don't run like geese. I typically hit em with my barrel and that finishes them. I've had them try and stab me or kick me with their spurs. We killed one goose hunting with my buddies dog and it was dead. He wouldn't pick it up just barked at it. Must smell way different than ducks. I guess they have mites but haven't noticed them. Never seen them on them or the meat and never see "rice breast" on them. My buddies dog is named teddy after Teddy Roosevelt. He went 231/232 ducks and geese retrieves this year.

Kettle... remembering you shot sandhills,, my brother was saying a friend of his does alot of waterfowl hunting also. He has told people he hunts with if they get a sandhill anywhere near his dogs he'd do serious bodily harm to them.   This guy claims sandhill cranes are  flea infested creatures.    You have any ideas? It's just what he was told

@11-87   Shop the Burris line here. https://www.burrisoptics.com/   You can mount a red dot on top of a regular scope if you want but they also off lighted reticles in some of their standard scopes.   Impressive lineup of optics that have come a long way since I last looked.  Drop Tine is their economy line.  I’m probably going to look at the mid level Signature HD.   Lifetime warranty on all models.

This " guns will jam cuz there’s still cozmolene in the action from the factory"  is one of the reviews I read the most of.

I went pheasant hunting for the first time this season on Friday.  Started at 11am, and finished by 11:43 at the first spot.  Raised 13, 5 of which were roosters.  They were all getting up close and dumb.  The entire countryside is a complete mudhole.  Sticky, thick, wet mud and standing water in all the ditches and low lying areas.  I'm looking forward to all of this hardening up good with colder weather soon.   I use a Benelli that's inertia-driven.  Far less debris for cleaner operation than shooting a gas operated autoloader.

@ 11-87    That Bushnell I have… WILL be replaced before next season.  I got bit by using it yesterday morning.  Really gotta blame the shooter but I didn’t overcome its poor quality and made a bad shot on buck in a tough situation.  He’ll be fine but I spent 3 hours tracking a thin blood trail before giving up.   It was the exact scenario where cheap glass loses.  I’ve taken a couple bucks with the set up already and figured I knew what I was working with well enough to not get bit.  Wrong.   I’m going to look at Burris, Vortex, Leupold.  Basic 3x9 most likely.

Not to worry iffen you don’t go out in the cold!  Nyuk nyuk….   Complaints seemed to come from young guys that never cleaned their guns and ran cases of shells through em.  I know of a couple Brownings and Bennellis that have done the same.    Sometime new, out of the box guns will jam cuz there’s still cozmolene in the action from the factory.  One buddy of mine had to scrape his Benelli out with a screw driver to get it cycle properly.

This was looked at this year.  It would go through, but from what I seen the Olmsted ,County/ Rochester/Mayo Clinic/ DMC are against it.  Too worried about population and accidents.     it’s a joke, but Mayo is the Mafia down here
