  1. I randomly have some weekdays off from work and no parenting requirements... would like to go up to Lake of the Woods/Rainy River and drop some lines. Was going to try to hop onto a charter boat as a +1, but apparently they're all shutting down mid-October this year. Anyone likely to be going out on the water sometime Oct 21-23 and maybe has an empty seat?
  2. Does anyone have recommendations for a company that does cribbing for boathouses and also a tree cutting company. With the water so low it should be easier than normal. I have two big old birch that have to go as well, they can be reached from the road
  3. Looking for a Septic System installer. Lake Vermilion Area. Thanks for your help.
  4. My 1960 Johnson Seahorse is on the fritz. I did an overhaul the over the winter rebuilding the carb, replacing dry fuel hoses, fixing two stripped bolts (helicoils) on the powerhead, etc... This spring she only wants to run on one cylinder. I am assuming that it's the coil or something similar but suck at the electrical side. Great American Marine in Bloomington won't touch old motors anymore. Neither will Boat Motor Recyclers in Burnsville (1990 and up!). Does anyone up near Vermilion still work on older motors? I'll take a recommendation for somewhere near the lake or in the Twin Cities. Any input is appreciated.
  5. My dad is looking to get rid of his ice castle and I will probably buy it. It's only a 4-hole and the lights and furnace just connect to a car battery kept inside the house. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would be a lot of work to get it wired up so I could run everything off my generator? I'd like to have one standard electrical plug-in inside to charge cell phones or run a TV or whatever. I'm assuming this wouldn't be major task for a professional, but maybe I'm underestimating how much work is involved? (I know I could always run an extension cord out the window or under the door, but I'd rather not).
  6. What causes this to happen?
  7. Hello, I have an older lcx 25 an will not power up, wondering where I can find an expert to evaluate. Out if work an just replaced batteries, trying not to by a new one Thanks
  8. Does anyone know it there is a local service for on-off? Looking to have someone put my house put on Tonka and then remove at end of the season and transport to my storage facility.

    New ice shanty owner

So I just received my fathers ice shack he built more than 20 years ago. He never got to take it out because of life so it’s been sitting there since rotting away. I’m doing some TLC on it and want to get some wiring done before the inside is done. I’ll have a propane wall heater, that’s easy to do for me. But I don’t know much on how to configure a 12V system. I just want to add a couple lights inside and 3 or 4 outlets, possibly lights outside as well. Nothing crazy but I want to be able to build off of it in the later future. Please give me some criticism or whatever you please. Just want to do it right and safely. Shack is 6’ X 10’.
  10. Check and Double Check ice thickness BEFORE putting your Wheeler and ice House/Portable out. Dec 17 two wheelers went threw 1 1/2 to 2 inches on Ottertail. Area around where units went threw had 7" to 9" ice. A spud bar check would have saved them many $$$ recovery cost. Thanks to Tri-State Diving for recovery. https://www.facebook.com/145016345514080/posts/4153802971302044/
  11. It's got a 50hp Merc that's got the lower took apart. Covered bow, tapered STEARN. Thick aircraft grade aluminum.

  13. Hi All, I have just purchased a cabin in Frazer bay. We are in need of a recommended cabin inspector. Would anyone be able to provide a recommended contact?
  14. Looks like my Canada trip in August may not be able to happen due to uncertainty that boarder will open in time. Our group is tossing around the idea of going up to lake vermilion instead. I am wondering if anyone has advise on where to stay. I have done some looking around and most resorts rent by the week. Any info would be greatly appreciated

    Lemon boat

I’m not even sure if I’m in the right page I just signed up but my question is I just purchased a boat from a private seller went to his home the boat fired up I purchased the boat, the day before I brought it out which was about a week and a half later it fired up brought it to the lake the next day it fired up boated around for about 25 minutes found a spot to fish It was off for about an hour or so went to start it back up and it would not fire back up had to be towed off the lake so the moral of the story is there anyway I can go back and get my money legally without no trouble or what is my next step if the seller does not want to give the money back?
  16. There is an article in the Timberjay asking people to complete a survey that would help bring broadband to the area. I don't know much about this so I'm not promoting anything except for awareness. http://www.timberjay.com/stories/survey-to-gauge-interest-in-broadband-in-lake-vermilion-area,16455 The link to the survey is below. Click on the red link that says "Iron Range Broadband Survey": https://broadband.ramsmn.org/

  18. Greetings....I'm searching for an original TUFFY (molded metal, left side or set of 2) TRANSOM CORNER for a rebuild on a 1985 Tuffy Muskie. Several TUFFY boats had these so being specifically from a Marauder may not be necessary. Wondering if anyone can help in locating one from a dealer or private party who may have upgraded to more modern transom corners/caps....maybe a boat that's been abandoned or scraped. Photo attached of the right-rear that I am trying to set-match to. The right side I have. Need to get a left side cap. Thanks for any assistance.

  20. Do any of you guys know if Surface Tension still swims around these parts? I think I need my Nils sharpened. I had sent him a message through the HSO forum a while ago and didn't hear back. I'm not sure if HSO and Fishing MN share the same messaging platform, or if I need to try him here instead. Did a quick search and it doesn't look like he's posted in a while, so I'm hoping someone knows his whereabouts.

    Auger Issues

I have a strikemaster Mag2000 and I can not get gas to flow to the carb. I’ve replaced the gas line and carb. If I don’t have it hooked up to the carb the gas flows great into a bucket or gas can, but once hooked up to carb, gas won’t move. TIA
