Quite sure there is only 1 mud mixer model, 2810. The - 20 is tool only - 22 tool, battery, charger & bag. Milwaukee Rep. was at Home Depot today confirmed only 1 model. No clue why some mixers shut down while others don't shut down. I see post on multi media both ways.

A friend I fish with has a mud mixer on his 8 inch k drill. I've  ran it a few times when we are fishing  and it has never cut out on me. Ill have to ask him next time if it ever has happened to him.

Weird. Usually hear it with the rigid drills or the mud mixers.  No idea why some shutdown frequently and others don't.  Although figured some guys just drill more and faster than others.  Not many push them harder than Icehawk does though.

Faster drilling might be the case. I drill 6 holes in my wheel house 20" ice in less than 4 min. And usually 5 holes in my hub same speed per hole. Mud mixer stops at 3rd or 4th hole. My 2804 fuel hammer drill never stops - drilled 12 consecutive holes testing drill and 9ah battery which dropped 1 battery bar on 12th hole, never hesitated. I have no reason to use Mud Mixer.

Ice trolling for sure. If there is a low oxygen problem in the lake there wont be after I get done.  I guess I like to put my stuff through the test. I can definitely give a honest opinion on quality after a winter of use. If it holds up to some of the abuse I Put it through it gets a thumbs up No weak links saved here

For those who run the drill rigs ( like myself) do you feel the 6” bit is big enough for walleye and pike fishing as well? Saves a lot of wear and battery life with the 6” than throwing the 8” on. What I’ve heard is most cases the 6” will be fine unless you hook into a lifetime fish.

I’ve been able to get mid 20 inch pike up a 6 inch hole a few times but the 8 will help you turn the head easier, especially when the line is wrapped around the back side of the mandible.

 

Honestly my plan is to continue running the 6 inch but when I think I’m going to pike or walleye fish, the 8 will be with too.  I’ll used that after I dial in with the 6.

 

I’ll that I’ve over lapped 6’s in a pinch to get a bigger hole too.  I just wouldn’t do it for more than 1 tip up if I had an 8 handy.

I have not had an issue, but look at the 7 inch lazer hand auger. For trout I cut 4 -6inch holes so I can sight fish. I should add I use a 6 inch bit.

I fish walleyes a bunch that's why I opted for the 8 inch K drill. But like we all know its not a true 8  I know a lot of guys have 6 inch bits but most of them really only fish panfish from what I've seen.  Yes you can slip a decent eye through a 6 inch hole and many do with there accidental catches of them . But you start getting fish in the 24 plus range fairly often and the larger hole is definitely nicer to turn the head to get her to come up the hole. Its all a preference thing but personally if I'm targeting eyes I will go no less than 8 . And if you start chaseing greenbacks in Winninpeg  a 10 is even a better choice for there. Yes you can cut multiple  holes side by side with a 6 and this is another option if you rarely fish walleyes  with consistency.

I like the idea of the 3 or 4 holes with the 6”. Only thing that might not be fun would be drilling them next to each other with the lazer hand auger being it has no center point. Unless it might be ok?

Wont know until you try.  The Nils does it well enough to get the job done with some care but a centering point would help.  The Lazer will probably be similar to the Nils.

Mine has a point on the auger. It’s not to bad cutting the four holes just go slow.

Hello....Off the rack, the Kovac ice ace connector is the main economically accessible that I've found to hold up to hefty use while tossed to a drill. It has a tie that goes over the drill so needn't bother with the plate. I annihilated a few others this season moving ceaselessly from my more established shellfish plate arrangements that eliminate the hurl.

Not to change point of this topic but if you do not have a drill and are looking for that light weight set up take a look at the Strikemaster V24 New this year.  It comes with a Lite Flite auger and is coming in at 350 for 6 inch and 399 for 8 inch augers.  The weight savings compared to the V40 is amazing and if you look at holes/battery and the cost of the battery it's cheaper and more productive than the Milwaukee/DeWalt batteries.  I have a few friends that when they started looking at the cost of a good drill and a lite flite this option is same to cheaper option for them.  I've seen way too many drills fail in thick ice for trusting one 100% of my season.  Its not for everyone but for those that are looking it is a very nice option that is new this year for people.
