    Ice house insurance

I'm looking into insurance options for an Ice House and wondering what advice or recommendations anyone has on the best type of coverage. Also, if I want to be able to rent out my ice house when I'm not using it but not as an "outfitter" or "guide" would that be something that typical coverage wouldn't cover if a profit is being made since I wouldn't have the coverage that a company running as an outfitter would have? (Such as how normal car insurance doesn't cover an Uber driver when they are logged into the app and giving someone a ride because they are consequently on the road more often and making a profit.) Any and all information or recommendations would be extremely helpful!

    Icing Catfish - First Timer!

A few friends and I decided to try our hand at something we've never done before - targeting Channel Catfish through the ice. This definitely proved to be a bit of a challenge and took me out of my comfort zone. After getting a few bites and fish up the hole we started to figure out a method that worked for us. I don't feel like it's the most productive way to catch these fish but it worked out for us that day. At the end of the day everyone in our group caught quite a few fish, had their rods doubled over and left with smiles on our faces. These fish put up a heck of a fight on Walleye gear! I will definitely try to get back up there this season.
  3. I used to fish a small lake just north of Malmo on Milla Lacs at a town called Glen. The Lake was called Clear Lake. I have not fished it in quite some time and wondered if anyone has any information on it. (Ice conditions, whats biting, etc.) I moved to St. Cloud a few years ago but thought it might be nice to ice fish the lake this winter. I used to catch some nice stringers of perch, crappies, and sunfish. Can anyone tell me if they are still selling bait at the Gas Station/RestaurantStore at Malmo? Any info would be appreciated. Uncle Kes

  7. Voyageur Park Lodge on Lake Kabetogama recently purchased brand new Ice Trek brand fish houses to rent on Lake Kabetogama. The houses themselves are all aluminum with spray foam insulation, clean, warm and comfortable! If your looking for something different from the usual LOW, Red experience check us out. These are day use houses only and we will offer lodging at Voyageur Park Lodge. We will only have one lodging unit open in the winter, so fishing parties will be the only guests at the resort, so lots of privacy and no other parties around. Small lake - Big Gills

Got on a small lake in the Bemidji area to chase after some BIG panfish. Snowstorm came through and made them finicky but managed to pull couple topside for a pic. 5mm Tungsten jig tipped with a Trigger X mustache worm did the trick! Probably my favorite fish to catch in the winter!

  14. Hey all,a little update for you on how things are going up here in the north land. After extensive flooding with the other resorts on the creek and some help from some heavy equipment we now have a suitable crossing on the lake side of the point! We began hauling houses out today and are excited to get fishing soon! If anyone has an itch to get some early ice fishing in we have a couple houses out now and plan on bringing the rest of the fleet out over the next couple of days. The ice in the first couple miles past the crossing is quite rough but there's smoother ice after about the 2 mile mark on the trail. The early reports of the fishing from the first few days is decent in the 20-23' of water range jigging with frozen shiners. Happy fishing everyone and we can't wait to see you on beautiful Lake of the Woods! Looking for Metro Spots

Hey I am looking for spots in the metro area for anything that is keeper sized, Walleye, Crappie, Bluegill, Perch. I live in eden prairie so anything in that area would be nice. Crappie Coffin - Ice Fishing Net

Welcome Anglers,To those who love the sport of ice fishing. We all have a story or two of the BIG ONE that got away. Now we can show the big one that didn't get away! Introducing the Crappie Coffin, the only ice fishing net on the market today. Born out of the frustration of losing that big fish at the top of the hole. I decided to go to work on a solution to this problem. The Crappie Coffin is the result of this effort. Placed in the drilled ice hole, you drop your jig down through the center of the Crappie Coffin and fish as always. The hooked fish is reeled up and enters through the one way passage at the bottom and is then trapped within the net. Also your sonar transducer will work normally placed inside the unit. No more lost fish wrapped around your transducer. Once you use the Crappie Coffin you'll never want to fish without one. http://www.tacticalfishing.net

    Cold front tactics

What are some of your go-to options for cold front conditions? Normaly, I am on the move. Weather it be spot to spot or hole to hole, always trying to find the next bite. But durring cold front conditions, like we had yesterday and again today I choose to take a different route. For me, siting tight durring tough conditions has usually paid off move than jumping around would. Finding a school of fish or a likley looking ambush point and parking right on top of it, then working it hard can be the key to sucess durring the cold cold days.
  20. Anybody get on the ice yet in the south metro? Haven't found more than 2 inches in my usual spots.
  21. Hey all, I'm sure everyone has heard, but we're finally getting some nice freezing weather heading in from up north (https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/56303:4:US). Early next week nightly lows will be sub 10's. So with ice season quickly approaching, I'd like to know what everyone usually does getting prepared to walk on water. As a newbie to ice fishing (only done it the last two seasons), I'm curious to see how everyone preps their gear and what other things you all do before going out on the ice. I finally got my hands on a nice flasher and power auger to add to the rest of my gear, any suggestions for nifty equipment to help make things easier? This is open for any discussion on any ice fishing tips for newer fishers! Please feel free to ask questions or discuss your prep process for the season. Let's all hope for this forecast to follow through and get some good ice out there. -JK
  22. Well, it's Friday, March 18th. It looked like the warm weather this past week was going to put an end to my favorite time of the year to ice fish, but it hasn't ended. Last night temperatures dipped into the mid 20's and tonight we'll be be seeing temps around 20. I bet tomorrow morning a guy will have to use an auger to reopen holes. Yep, I'm crazy...crazy about fishing. Get your waders on, fill a 5 gallon bucket with everything you need, and get out for the last weekend. When you wade out to the ice and crawl on, I bet you tell yourself, I should've been doing this in the past. It's awesome to be alive! Tight lines!
  23. youtu.be/z2lKIcxwT6g If you did not get fishing over the weekend, you missed about a perfect day for it. Check this out and enjoy!
  24. I'm new to this forum and new to Lake Vermilion. We just purchased a cabin on the west end of the lake and I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can as fast as I can about the lake. I have snowmobiles and a portable shack so I can fish almost anywhere there is good ice. I also have a 16' wheel house that we have used extensively on Lake of the Woods. Does anyone on the west end of Vermilion plow ice roads to allow access with my wheel house? Thanks for any info you can provide! Chad
  25. I was wondering how the roads are and how far they go out. looking to go out 5 nm SE of myr mar
