  1. After fishing every handful in years in Minnesota for 40 years, I'm FINALLY going to bring my wife up to Vermillion and see it for the first time. I'm chasing smallmouth and pike only (well, I'll gladly wrestle with a fooled Musky but not fishing for them). If the largemouth fishing is better than the smallmouths, we'd probably chase some of them too. Staying at Ludlows on the island. Boy I'd love ANY help with where to start my searching for the smallies and pike and what to key in on that time of year. I'll have basically two days to fish and will have my own bass boat. I am an

    Where what when

Headed to Brainerd Area July 9-11 coming from Colorado to visit friends. Well actually my girlfriend is I am tagging along to hopefully catch some fish with my flyrod And or jigs. Seeking advice on which lakes and tactics and anything else helpful to help maximize fishing time in your state. I will have access to a canoe on Hubert Lake. Any and all advice would be much appreciated if anyone is into flyfishing Stillwater and would like to go or show me some pointers on your home waters That would be awesome thanks looking forward to any responses.
  5. Headed up to Duluth area tomorrow, want to wet a line. No boat. Anyone wanna share a bite? Will traverse any country for some filets!!!
  6. I am going to cuyuna in a coule weeks and I am planning do do a little bit of fishing but am not much of a trout fisherman. Do the northerns and bass in the mine lakes have any size to them?
  7. Going to lake vermillion for the first time. June 13. Staying near Arrow Head Point, Isle of Pines. Only have a small boat with 15 HP so looking for some tips for where to go for big pike that is reasonably close given my boat. I do not mind a drive, but I know how conditions can get on big water. I also plan to go to Trout Lake (reason for bringing the small boat) If anyone has tips on Trout Lake for Pike. Thanks and #tightlines!
  8. Hi all. I am currently at Rush Lake near Perham at Four Seaons Resort. We’ve been here three days and have caught basically nothing. Can anyone give me some advice on walleyes here? Where to go and good baits for this lake? I’ll take any advice on any type of fish you might experience with on this lake. Never been here before.....
  9. I've had an old rapala cd-18 since I was a little guy and the wife has hung it on the wall and won't let me fish with it anymore. Just wondering if anybody knows a store i can go find this at. I've been to the Cabela's in Rogers and owatanna both, sportsman's Warehouse in coon rapids and about every Walmart bait shop and gas station I've stopped at with no luck. Really miss using this lure as it is the most productive thing I've used outside a 3 inch red and white spoon.
  10. Ended up going out to the South end of the lake this weekend. Did ok for bites not knowing the lake so only brought home one pike. Saw quite a few more but they were all too big to keep with the 24-36 slot in effect. Biggest surprise was catching a small pout on my first cast yesterday. Definitely a river lake.
  11. Spoons come in all sizes and will catch all sizes of fish. In your mind is it just as important to use a steel leader on a big spoon as a smaller spoon? With the leader are you mostly concerned with a bite off on the strike or cutting the line when they go into a death roll? Is there any time you don't use a steel leader? Reason I ask is my Pike are generally hooked in the mouth with the treble hooks. Does the Pike engulf the whole spoon and slide down the spoon until getting into the hooks? Give me your opinions on the use of spoons and steel leaders. I'm not concerned with Floro
  12. . What is your personal best Minnesota Pike? Were you targeting Pike when you caught it? Mine is 42" from a shallow lake North of me. It was very skinny for a 42" fish. I caught it while fishing for Bass on a spinnerbait. Water was very warm and unfortunately I wasn't able to revive it. I contrast that to a 42" Pike caught in Canada trolling. That fish absolutely stopped the bait on the strike. Learned a very good lesson that day. Always have a decent size net in the boat, the fish don't know what species you are after.

    Mille Lacs

With the crazy restrictions on Mille Lacs and the uncertain opener are any of you still planning to fish Mille Lacs? Will you hit other lakes or just going to stay home this summer and hope things get back to normal? The very dedicated Walleye guys are really going to need to adjust or hit other lakes. Businesses are going to get clobbered. Sad situation. Hopefully there is something left in 2021.

    Anyone been out?

Any one been out spearing this season? Was out on Winnie beginning of December and it was TOUGH saw one and speared one that’s it. Then hit a smaller lake after Christmas and saw one perch all day. Normally between these two lakes we see TONS of fish in a day. Seems like a tough season so far!

Amount of hooks on tip up

We are new to Minnesota fishing, I've read you can have 3 hooks within 9" on a tip up. Can you have a minnow on each hook? Or only allowed one bait, for example, a 9" smelt with all the hooks attached? Kind of a man made lure.
  19. Hey I was curious to see if there were any active fishing clubs near whitebear lake or forest lake
