  1. 5/29/17 Fishing report from Flag Island Resort NW Angle, Lake of the Woods Happy Memorial Day! The past week has brought some variation in weather including sunshine, wind and rain. Overall fishing has been good. The bug hatches have started with the fish flies having some impact on the fishing but, anglers are still consistently getting limits. On the Minnesota side, the walleye, sauger, pike and perch bite continues. The magic depths have been between 7-13 feet in the mud and 16-26 feet on rocks. The Flag Island Flats are starting to heat up. Other hot lo
  2. Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort, Lake of the Woods NW Angle 2-20-17 Fishing on the MN side started out a little slower at the beginning of the warmer temps we have been having but we have seen a 360 turn around and fishing is back to where we like to see it for the NW Angle. We are seeing a lot of nice Walleye, Sauger, Perch, Tulibee and Pike being caught in 20-26 feet on the rocks and sand. The best areas we have seen all year are on rocks and shallow, the fish are feeding on the crayfish. The best colors ave been gold, red, silver and blue on spoons, rattler flyers
  3. 1.30.17 Sunset Lodge Fishing Report The weather is finally cooperating and it feels like January! Last week's sloppy conditions have frozen over and all trails have been groomed. Fishing on the Minnesota side has slowed in the morning but a mid-day to afternoon bite is still strong anywhere between 17 and 28ft. Fishing the dead stick has been most productive with many limits produced and a fair amount of slot fish being released. Canada is still pumping out the crappies, the magic number seems to be right around 30 ft., Deep water Bay has seen a lot of action for both the wal
  4. Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort 1/30/17 The weather this past week up here in the angle has been pretty unstable with temps in the single digits and closer to the thirties and now snow flurries today. The fish have still been biting and anglers are still taking home limits every day. On the Minnesota side, anglers are catching a good mix of fish including Walleye, Sauger, Perch, Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Eel Pout will be spawning within the next couple of weeks. The depths we have been fishing with success is 20-26 feet and in 13-14 feet from 4-6pm in cu
  5. Anybody know if people are driving trucks to the trout lake portage? Thanks!
  6. Fishing report from Flag Island Resort, Lake of the Woods NW Angle 1/2/17 Happy new year everyone! We hope you all had a safe and happy holiday. Fishing up in the NW Angle has been really heating up and we are in the full swing of things once again! We have a plowed ice road marked with signs out the resort and open to full sized vehicles. There is also a staked snowmobile trail all the way up from Baudette. On the Minnesota side the Walleye, Sauger and Perch bite has been good. We have about 14-16 inches of ice. Walleye and Perch are being caught in 20-26 feet and Saugers in th
  7. Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort Lake of the Woods, NW Angle 10/3/16 On the Minnesota side fishing has been good. The Walleyes and Saugers are still in the mud in 10-20 feet and the water temperature is around 59 to 60 degrees. The north side and south tip of Oak Island has been producing fish as well as American and Northwest points. The Flag Island flats have also been good. The birds have been following the shiners as well and they have been good at directing anglers to the fish. Orange and hammered gold spinners or chartreuse, gold and black ¼ to 3/8 ounce jigs tipped with a s
  8. Fishing report from Flag Island Resort, Lake of the Woods NW Angle 9/5/16 Happy Labor Day, we hope everyone is having a safe and fun holiday weekend! Up here in the northwest angle we have had quite a few rainy and windy days. The fish are still biting better than ever, and the fishing is only going to get better. Fall brings some of the best fishing of the year as well as some of the best wildlife to be seen! On the Minnesota side the bait fish are moving into bays and shallows. Walleye and Saugers are being caught in 1
  9. Fishing report from Flag Island Resort, Lake of the Woods NW Angle 8/29/16 Up here in the NW Angle fishing has been good with some cooler days as well as some wind, the water temperature is around 71 degrees. On the Minnesota side fishing mainly off of reefs in 17-27 feet of water has been successful, a few days we produced fish in 10-17 feet of water on rocks. Fishing around the west bar of Little Oak, Crowduck and the west side of Garden has been the place to be. Purple and clown raps with riggers, gold spinners, and jigging when fish are up shallow on the rocks have all
  10. Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort Lake of the Woods, NW Angle 8/22/16 On the Minnesota side anglers have been catching Walleyes and Saugers in 18-22 feet of water on warmer days and in 20-27 feet of water on the cooler days. These fish have been caught in mud and rubble rock, west bar off Little Oak, crow duck, west bar off Garden and in the mud south of Oak Island. Fishing chartreuse, green and gold spinners with shiners and crawlers seems to be more productive compared to down rigging most days. Down rigging has been successful with fire tiger and shiner like colors. The water temp
  11. Fishing report from Flag Island Resort 8/8/16 Lately up here in the NW Angle we have had some windy days and a few thunderstorms roll through. Guests and guides have still been finding fish and taking home limits. On the MN side, the walleye bite has been good south of Oak and Little Oak. The water temperature has been at 75 degrees. The fish are in the mud in about 20-24 feet. Orange, gold and pink spinners with bottom bouncers or in line weighs with minnows or crawlers have seemed to be the trick. Recent reports of anything with red beads have really been turning the fish on.
  12. MN In the NW angle this past week we have had some very windy days along with a few thunderstorms. With that being said, for the Walleye bite, the magic depth has been in 24-29 feet and a lot of fishermen have been having luck in the mud between Little Oak and Oak Island as well as around Four Blocks pulling spinners and bottom bouncers as well as with down riggers or snap weights with Raps. The Muskies have been found in shallow bays with rocks adjacent to weeds and deep water. Ontario On the Ontario side the Walleyes have been out deep in the mud off the rocks in 25-35
  13. Ontario The walleye bite has been awesome, some of the reefs close to shore are already turning on due to the water temperature hitting that 65-degree mark, so keep those rock humps on your graphs. The magic depths are in that 20-30-foot range on average; with the weather being so unstable this past week, fishing in areas with a lot of current with a jig and frozen emerald shiner have shown to be successful especially in areas like Big Narrows for example. Muskie opener is this coming weekend, set on June 18th. Muskies have spawned out and our bass and walleye fishermen have co
  14. Over the yrs I have caught just about everything that swims in our local lakes....Andrea showed me a new one, lol... a koi she hooked it while fishing for pannies on a local lake. I have seen them while walking around lake George and one or two in the river over the last decade....but never caught one. We had pretty good luck on the panfish too, few of the hybrids pushed the 1lb mark, and some of the gills were of very respectable size for our area..... bigger crppies haven't showed up yet on this body of water, but plenty of 8-10in ones were caught in the two hrs we fished.
  15. Adrian’s: Open; allowing ½ ton’s with 21’ wheel house & ¾ ton but no house in tow. They are marked 5 – 6 miles north of the island with a better fishing report. Cyrus Resort: Open; No report but the following is last weeks; ½ ton’s w/o a house in tow, Geo Tracker/jeep Wrangler type vehicles, sleds & ATV’s. Marked out about 8 miles from the island in about 33’ of water has been providing a good sauger/walleye mix. Morris Point: Open; ½ ton pickups & 16’ wheel houses, & ¾ tons empty. Road is in perfect shape; no cracks or heaves. Moved some houses back in the 28-29’

  17. Memorial Weekend Fishing Report! Up at the NW Angle, we have been having exceptionally good weather which has contributed to great fishing. Temperatures in the upper 70's, light wind and no cold fronts coming through. Our first bugs hatched this weekend which also helped play a part. Our water temperature is now about 50 degrees. On the Minnesota side, the best walleye spot has been between Oak Island and Blackbird Island. The walleyes spawn on various points and shallow bars around Oak so fishing in deeper water (21-25 feet) adjacent to those spots have been producing good results. There
  18. Fishing over the last couple days has been decent and outlook for the weekend is even better. Boats are reporting the best bite to be in the evening hours. Jig with pink, hammered gold or white.
