How is this stretch of the river for channel, flatheads and sturgeon? I'm always looking for a new strecth to fish.

The lower section of pool 4 is probably the best flathead water in all Minnesota for size and numbers. Oh yeah and you don't have to fish out of a dingy boat but can use a big boy boat with the navigation channel marked so moving at night is a breeze.

Great question - I am looking for the same info...especially after watching a 25-30lb flattie caught last week up by the dam. By lower section I'm assuming you mean closer to Alma? How about the lake itself and upriver to the dam? Just a wintering area?

Good fishing exists, but so do good numbers of good anglers. It's probably one of the most heavily pressured flathead fisheries in MN. Seems like in heading out to the Minnesota with Dennis, that it was more consistent. Maybe that's just because I was fishing with Dennis!
