Red Wing Conditions and Hotel/motel recomendations?

Recommended Posts

liphooked

What are the current conditions at Red Wing? water temps? water level? water flow (fast/moderate/slow)?

i am looking to hit the river Friday & Saturday and any updated info this week would be greatly appreciated (and I will publish an update on how we did). Also, any reasonably priced motel/hotels you would recommend in Red Wing (I will have my boat with me) would also be appreciated (does Everts rent out the cabins they have for one night? i would imagine they are booked but one never knows).

"rip some lip"!

IrishZit

The national weather service posts river conditions that are very accurate.

Everts does rent nightly this time of year. Check them out.

There are many hotels / motels in town.

The super 8 is located right next to our bait store. The Parkway is a very inexpensive hotel that a lot of fisherman stay at. You can't beat the price. it usally fills up quickly.

For more information you can call us at the store.

I believe the hog hunting farm is called Ridge Hunting Preserve, it is east of Little Falls the phone number is 320-745-2337 I know people who have hunted up there in the past and had a good time. They said the hogs were running wild in a 20 or 40 acre fenced area but it is not usually easy to get one but there is a high success rate if you have the time to work the area. I am going to confirm the location/name and will probably hunt there this year. Russian Boar are supposed to be pretty tasty and there are meat processors near by to drop the hog off at.

I went out after the wind died down. Caught 23 with a mix of eyes and saugers.  12 to 15”   With no slots. Fished 12 to 27’.

This is off a Ranger with a PRO XS OPTI from opener that wouldn't run. Cost of repairs =$500!!

For Vermilion, the Lowrance lake insight data is identical to Lakemaster, 3 foot contours.

Maybe you should check the various sites that sell mapping stuff?   What is the Lowrance offering?   Is there a different Navionics choice?

Hi everyone, I will be heading to Echo Lake, in the superior national Forest, the middle of June.  Never been there, but the small amount I found on this site says it's a good fishing lake.  Does anyone have past experience on this lake?  I'm targeting walleye mostly, but Pike and crappie are always on my menu.  Are there any lure colors that have worked well for you?  I'm mostly a live bait fisherman.  Any presentations that worked well?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated with this lake, and I will report back how it went/what worked.  Thank you everyone.

May want to post this in the BWCA, Duluth.... regional forum.  You may get more responses there as that's the area the lake is in.   Goid Luck!
