fishing report around pine island

It was fun a month ago.

Put a post up on how you did -- Plan to make it up in March.

I would call the guys at Flag Island -- they are good guys and would tell you what they know.

Dahitman, we don't have a report for Pine Island - it is on the South end of the lake. Jighed, you might want to try giving Morris Point a call.

The fishing is getting better but still not up to what it should be. Nicer sized fish this past weekend. Plain hooks seemed to take as many fish as jigs.

We were out of Morris this past weekend. Still a little slow I'd say. The fish we did catch were mostly on plain hooks or single hook jigs - no spoons produced for us. We caught about 15 fish for 2 days - 3 guys -- kept 3. A lot of small perch and some very small eyes too. Morning was the best time -- Sunday from about 7am to 11am was when we caught all our keepers (all 3 that is ). Other groups we talked to had very similar fate.

When does the fishing pick up? I plan in making a trip up north in March to chase crappies and eyes -- Is there a good time?

I'm no LOW expert - just started fishing the ice up there last year. From those I spoke with it is picking up as we speak -- cause it was really slow earlier ice. Last year our March trip was the slowest out of 5 others up there, but this year with it being slow now - maybe March will be super, at least I hope it is for your sake. The trip is still always good - but you like to get into a few.
