The resort we're staying at said we can come a week later on the 15th smile.gif. Hopefully that will buy us enough time confused.gif. A couple of the guys I'm going with are a little chubby wink.gif, so I might send them out ahead of me.

The weather channel never is right, look at accuweather.com or nws.noaa.gov that one is the national weather service, its not goign to get about freezing up there obviously.

I think you guys are worrying too much. I would bet fivebucks that there will be walkable ice by the weekend of the 11th if not before.

I am glad I am not the only one that is worried about his upcoming trip. I called our resort on Sunday about my trip scheduled for the 16th and the resort owner told me not to sweat it. That was reassuring. Come on cold temps.

I am going to call this week to book a trip for the 10th-13th, so we are betting we will at least have walkable ice by then and it could change throughout the weekend.

The forecast looks good for walkable ice by then, maybe ATVs during the weekend. Provided the winds stay down. I saw that they were gusting pretty hard yesterday.

spoke with Glenn this morning at Riverbend Resort regarding our four reservations for this year. As of Tuesday morning he said there was no ice in the area. River, 4mile were open. Some ice skim in the area of Bostic and shoreline of Zipple. They are praying for the cold temps just like we are. He said he had already had to cancel some trips for next week. Our first trip is Dec 26th so we're hoping that will work. I'm sure we will have ice but its tough on the nerves waiting for it to happen. Good luck and hang on, Bill

We have a trip planned for 12/13-15. So let's just say there's walkable ice. Since there are no houses out yet, how do the resorts handle the package deals? Are you just charged for the room? What about transportation? This has never happened to us so I'm just curious if this ever happened to anyone else.

Bring your portables and fish on your own.

With a temp currently of 10 degrees and a forecasted high today and tomorrow near 20 degress, I expect we should be packing on some ice now. The winds seem moderate but they are out of the NW, which isn't good on that body of water.

Fisky any updates?

FISKYNUT what I want to know is where on the lake are you going to get some fish through the ice by the end of the week. Ive personally called Zipple,Morris Point,Riverbend, and Wigwam and they all have said that there is no Ice yet. Are you God and can you walk on water?? If so I want to meet you. (ha ha) Please tell people where you are going to go on at??

Thank You FISKYGOD grin.gifgrin.gif

Yes by golly I can indeed walk on water....It has to be froze solid and about 3 inches thick though! My thermometer read 4 degrees at 7am, saw 9degrees on the bank thermometer in Roseau at 11 this morning. Perhaps a bit of wishful thinking on my part saying I'll get out as soon as I did but....I took a drive along the south shores yesterday afternoon and saw a few brave (?) folks out tipup fishing. I'll wait a bit and then fish the same old early ice walk out spots I've fished in seasons past. Forecast says low teens for tonite, lower 20's tomorrow and it has'nt been really windy. This of course can change for the colder, or warmer. I'm optomistic.....And more than ready!

Thanks for that bit of hope. Could you inform me of where these early ice spots are? Just a general location on the lake would be nice. Im trying to come up on Fri 10th just trying to plan a little.

This might be 70 miles away from the south shore, but it's LOW none the less. Heavy current in the closer viewing area. It's cold in Kenora today. -16 celcius, whatever that converts to. http://webcam.norcomcable.ca/still.html

Four day forcast for here:

TEMPERATURE -19°C -19°C -18°C -14°C

WIND W 10 km/h W 10 km/h NW 10 km/h W 5 km/h

There will be good ice soon!

Hey Guys! Great news. From what I read on Walleye Retreats website, and when I called Morris Point resort, the lake did freeze quite a way out last night, and Morris Point said if there is any luck at all, tonight being close to zero temps. it will freeze over all the way, and then the wind cant get at it. It made my day tonight, and I hope everything works out for us. have a good rest of the night!

Drove by the Wigwam on Monday Nov. 29 and Four Mile Bay had no ice. Tonight it is forecasted to drop to 6 degrees. Problem is the forecast for Friday is big winds which is the last thing we need when trying to get a sheet of hard water!

27 degrees in TRF at 8am with a South wind that is picking up! Not a good sign! Just a side note...4 houses on the river yesterday here in TRF! Smart? I dont think so but it sure got the itch a little itchier!!! grin.gif

How is everyone sitting for shiners?? Pretty well stocked?
