I stopped by the boat landing at Warroad
last week to check it out. I have never
paid much attention to the "lay of the land"
but it is VERY nice.
The second annual open water FM LOW Get Together is June 19th. This year we will be
on the west side of the lake out of Warroad.
The day will involve fishing and eating.
The fishing will be close in (if you want
it that way) and should be very good. The
eating part will be the HUGE FISH FRY at the
campground after a fun day on the water.
Also, you will get a chance to meet several
of the FMers you read posts from every day
here on the web.
There are a couple of covered picnic
areas, with grills and pop machines, the
boat landing is right there and so is the
campground. There is a nice fish cleaning
house, plenty of parking for trucks and
boats. This can really work out nicely.
Take a minute in the next few days and
decide if you can join the group on Saturday
June 19th (it's only 4 weeks away). In a week
or so we will start asking for head counts
again. It wont cost anything to attend but
we will be needing some things and may
assign some duties.
If you dont have a boat we will hook you up.
If you have room in your boat you may spend the day with a brand new friend.
Earlier Rick Paquin (our fearless leader)
said the date looked good for getting some
of the sites bigwigs at this event. They
have been known to bring prizes.
Check your schedules boys and girls and
pencil this in if you can.
------------------
Curt Quesnell
NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

Curt, I got to speak with the nice lady at the Warroad coc this morning. We can get the larger shelter right accross from the fish cleaning shacks. I had her temporarily pencil it in, and I told her I'd get back to her Wednesday. I have some questions for you so could you email me sometime soon? This pavillion has power for crockpots and whatever else. Alcohol is okay if we let them know. No kegs allowed though. There is a fire ring with this one as well. They have a PA/sound system avaliable for us as well iffin you're gonna do the MC'n and want it!!!
It would also be nice to get a head count so we have an idea of # of folks that plan on attending....So iffin you are planning on joining in on the fun post here for all to see!
Fisky
[This message has been edited by fiskyknut (edited 05-24-2004).]

Fisky,
Thanks for your legwork so far. This
place will work out real well.
Yes we will be there for sure. I have
no idea at this point how many people
we will have.
I have a yahoo email addy for you and I
dont think it is the right one. So instead
of me sending off to cyber space.....
[email protected] is my email, send any
questions you have to me and I will try
to answer them.
We will need a rough head count soon. So
check your schedules and plan the day with
us Saturday June 19th
------------------
Curt Quesnell
NorthCountry Outdoors Radio
[This message has been edited by curt quesnell (edited 05-25-2004).]

Two in my party, so I'll have room for two more in my boat. I take it this is a rain or shine event--barring severe t-storms? If people are travelling a long distance, and would like to get in a round of golf on Sunday, I'ld be up for that too. Warroad has a nice course.
------------------
Fish on gotta go--JON

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America? Focus! 🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t). Having a connection down there is pretty cool! We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back. Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it. Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community

Ya cooked em wrong! lol! Not even sure if you can bring ‘em back from Central America? You can’t from Argentina, last I heard.
