River Bend Report LOW

Recommended Posts

Sorry that this is so long after the fact. Had to replace the Network Card in my BRAND NEW COMPUTER. More frustrating than a cold front these fancy gadgets are. Anyway we fished out of River Bend Jan 2-4 and had a ball. No big fish even several were caught in the area, but lots of action. We were exactly (on my speedometer) 4 1/2 miles out from the entrance at Adrians over Pine Island. Good ice as long as you stayed on Adrians Road or River Bend. We fished between 28' and 32' of water and had Sauger Action all day with an occasional eye thrown in (largest 21"). The folks at River Bend were once again very accomadating Glenn, Rich, Brian and all the Lodge staff. We had success on white jigs with red heads, and plain orange, chartreuse, and pink hooks. They finally pulled the Chevy out on Thursday night. God it looked eerie when we drove by it on Wed afternoon. Sure glad I was following someone who knew where they were going (Rich). Curt and Hunt4food thanks for your posts prior to my going up. Glenn said he knew who you were Curt, but Hunt4food he did not recognize your handle, and I didn't know your name at the time. Hoping to go back late Feb or early March they say it's also a great time of the year. Good luck to all that are headed that way. I sure would love to be sitting in old #10 right now....Tight Lines Bill Turck, St Cloud

I am glad you had fun Bill! I forgot to tell you to try the prime rib at River Bend. I think it is the best prime rib I've ever had. That Chevy was a good reminder for all who venture out on their own up there. It can be done safely, but one needs to be very careful. Go with your first instinct. it is usually right. I am just glad the driver was able to escape safely. I bet he needed a few coctails after that mission! I hope he(the driver) doesn't read this. smile.gif

Hunt4food thanks for the return post. God what a blast it was. We were up there last year for the first time. When I left last Friday I made reservations for 2003. In addition to the Prime Rib they also have some great BBQ ribs. We caugt a pout on Friday and the chef made it for us with some garlic butter, man what have i been missing for the past 40 years. Fantastic. thanks again say hit Glenn and all if you get by there for the Prime and some cold ones...Bill

I can taste that awesome plate of biscuits and gravy and a hot cup of steaming coffee. Oh ya it don't get no better than that. Well better head for the office and sell some more insurance so I can buy some jigs and minnows. Have a great day, and hang a big one!!!!!!!!Bill Turck

Totally disagree Gim. I have a gas Jiffy legend auger. Never issues. Take a little time to care for it before putting it away and good to go. Sincei started using non oxygen gas, startron and seafood in never have issues with my 2 strokes.   Guess when them damb helicopters from my maple tree arrive I'll  find out how good she blows,  doubt I'll  get a chance first with Stormy to compare!🤭   Anyone got trumps number?😄

Wow, 600 bucks for a battery powered lawn mower?  Guess I didn't realize they costed that much.   I assume most people now are using battery augers in the winter.  I remember when they first came out everyone thought they were a joke.  Things sure have changed on that front.  I hardly see anyone using a gas auger anymore.   The selling point, at least for me, would be to avoid having to do any engine maintenance.  Small 2 stroke motors are a pain in the rear to maintain, and unreliable at best.

I don't know, this save the plant thing looks like a money maker, for someone! 🫤 Where do you think electric prices are going to go when they have the monopoly for everything that moves! 🙄

Nice!   It would be great if they had some kind of brake, so you don't end up on your neighbors YouTube video going down the driveway! 😆

Last month I went searching online for a trailer jack with pneumatic tires. Instead I found the video below showing a relatively quick and easy upgrade to your existing jack:     It's worked pretty well. I definitely had to mess around with finding the right combination of spacers, washers, and locknut pressure that wouldn't bind up the wheels. However, it is a pretty sweet setup and allows me much better control. We live at the end of a half-alley. My garage faces the end so when I need to hook my boat up to the truck, I have to pull it out into my driveway and then swivel it 180 degrees to face towards the street. The handle is what really makes the difference and now the trailer jack wheels don't slide on the asphalt. Has anyone else done this conversion?

I've got a pile of crawlers ready to go - a nice side benefit of all the rain in the metro lately.   At the very least, I hope that the remaining trappers are making some better money off of the higher prices. I would think that it would be a great way for local kids to make some cash. I can see why it wouldn't make for a great way to make a living as an adult.

Went out yesterday with the sunshine. I did find crappies in the shallows on a darker stained lake with Temps at 58 degrees. They had no interest in my baits
