All the boat houses in Stuntz bay is crazy. Who owns all these boat houses?  How do you get to own one of these boat houses?  I am figuring that their is an interesting story behind these boat houses.

Private owners.
 Years n years.

Lots of history.

Hit Tower News office or Timerjay for info on history.

They have it all.
Good stuff!

was it US Steel that donated the land for that state park in the '60s?

These boat houses were given to miners years ago as a perk.  Use to be social events at them back in the day.  People use to wash clothes at them.  My dad bought ours in 1978 and transferred it to me (allowed once) around 1990.  Once I am done with it, nobody can own it anymore.  The structures are owed by the user but the land is leased from the state (DNR).  Some owners "let" others use theirs (not permitted to rent them).  When people abandon their boathouses, they haven't been forced to remove the structure.  Look at all the collapsed ones.  I am sure they are not paying their lease fees.  I plan on removing mine when done if I am physically able.

I am sure the Tower-Soudan Historical Society has much more detailed information on these.
