Opening day

So I know opening day is May 14. My lake of choice is White Bear Lake.  My question is, can I start keeping bass and walleye etc on that date from that lake? I ask because on the opener last year I was fishing there and caught some bass and was showing my buddy some pics and he said I couldn't keep them. He mentioned something about inland lakes? I can't recall exactly what he said.

Don't rely on what a buddy, your grandpa or a bunch of guys on a forum say.  Read the Reg's and stay out of trouble.  Good Luck on Opener.

This is one case where he SHOULD trust the guy on the internet.

Bass are not legal to harvest until May 28.  You can target them for catch and release starting May 14.

As already mentioned, read and learn the rules. 
 

I personally prefer the physical paper regulations booklet over looking it up online. Keep one in your car, your tackle box, your night stand, anywhere else you’ll think you’ll need it.
