What do you do with the dinks?  Can't imagine there is a reasonable filet on a 7 inch crappie or a one eyed rocky.

depends on how wide the backstraps are!!!!!!!!

Fillet em and eat em.  The rocky was about two bites/side.  This is the smallest crappie fillet I had though.  I killed em so I’m keepin’ em.

More crappie than I've caught all winter. Looks like it was a fun day with a good fish fry!

Out on Lake Wishunew for the weekend. 

 

Wife’s current favorite lake for ice fishing and I’m getting spanked!  In the first hour of fishing she got 5 walleyes and lost one.  Biggest is 14.75.  I got none.

 

Oh, wait! Start making a post and catch a few - me catch a few!   And then back to her. 
 

Could be another busy night on…..

The walleyes went MIA for our house last night!  More pouts and a nice midnight pike were the only fun havers for whatever reason.

 

I plowed a chute next to us for a buddy that came up yesterday and he got some but it wasn’t gangbusters for him either.  Shoulda had his limit he says, so he’s still happy.

 

Might try for tullibee a little (found some yesterday) before we go.  Got more flooding around the houses with the added weight of the neighbor.  It was good to be here one last time this winter.

I doubt it but remind me when it is.

 

My winter is effectively over next week.  I applied to go back to my old job full time and it sounds like I’ll be going back soon if everything works out.  Plus I’ve been talking with another young guy that wants to work for my business and contracts are renewing for the season.  Gonna be going 7 days a week again between the two till I don’t know when.

 

I think this weekend is my last hurrah.  I might get a little fishing in but the weather is supposed to be junk again.  Freezing rain before another 2-4 inches of snow.  What a winter….

Yah, that’s the plan right now.  Holding my breath and hoping it all works out.  Looks good on paper.

I can do the frozen sprouts - with cheese.

 

Picked up my third Bruce Bauer decoy (working hen goldeneye) and a shorty ice saw at the show.  The long saw IN the shack is too long for re-opening holes.  
 

Bruce is amazing.  He remembered me by first and last name and what other decoys I bought from him like 4-5 years ago.  It helped that he had a refresher when saw my new swan decoy at the carving club meeting earlier in the week but I was still amazed - even that the loon I bought was for my wife.

 

 

 

 

And one of the 2 swans I have coming.  Still need to be keeled and balanced.  “Huge” is all I hear about them so far.  I mean other than, “Don’t ask for me to do these again!” - Neighbor guy. 

 

They’ve been a challenge.
