Reminds me of a fishing opener trip about 15 years ago. Myself and two buddies were fishing Wakemup Bay. Ice wasn’t fully out as there were big patches of slush floating around. It was cold and windy but we still felt obligated to drag rigs on Saturday. Then it started snowing. After an inch or two of snow built up on the deck of the boat, we had no fish but enough snow for a proper snowball fight.  I had quit paying attention to where we were drifting we ended up getting 2 lines snagged. Trying to backup the boat to free the lines resulted in plenty of cold water splashing us.

One guy says, “when are we going to be old enough to stop doing stupid (stuff) like this?”

 

Other guy says, “it’s going to be a while... I don’t even have a girlfriend yet.”

 

That winter the same group hiked into Pine Lake for a day trip. It was lots of work to get back there and we blazed our own trail through the snow. We caught one 17” walleye. On our hike out 10pm, we were cold, hungry and tired. The trail we made had blown over. When we got back to the Trout Portage my friend say, “I told you we weren’t done doing stupid (stuff)!”

That sounds like some good stories. It is always a fine line between stupid safe and stupid dangerous!

Cigar Guy - sorry that I wasn't able to stop over on Saturday....but the ice was not conducive for stopping! We did keep that channel open so that our trip out Sunday afternoon was easy....except for the wind.

 

I am done busting ice for 2020. I'll wait until fishing opener 2021 to do it again!!

The kids were up, we stayed home babysitting. My son did say he saw you go by a couple times. How much ice did you run into?

It was iced out to about the same area as last weekend, a little ways past your dock. However it was much easier to break through at only 1.5 inches thick. I probably woke your kids open when we went in around 11pm Friday night. We then did a run out on Saturday afternoon to keep the shipping lane open for our Sunday exit. That's when we saw your kids and your neighbor. We are quite the spectacle.
