Paradice  Some of my friends are farmers and they have told me the same thing about booking way in advance for slaughter on pigs and there cattle. I thought hat was kind of crazy but you just confirmed it also.   Meat lockers especially the smaller mom pop ones with less help are pretty busy and can only take on so much. . Now throw in the venison processing in the mix in the fall and things get pretty hectic I'm  sure.

I ordered a 1/4 of beef from plantenbergs last fall took me 3 weeks to get it, right before Christmas. I asked them how far out they were with venision, they said 3 months. I think they do ALOT of venny processing. needless to  say my trimmings are in my freezer yet. probably take them in mid feb!!!!!!!

that sure is a long ways out!!!  never used to be that way...   I know some places are cutting back on slaughter too...  what part of the state are you at???

That was McDonalds in Clear Lake.  My dad is having the same problem in Darwin with steers.  I had planned to take my bear to the locker in Remer.  When season rolled around, they had gotten out of doing bear.  I had to take it up to Deer River.  Getting harder and harder to get this stuff done.  Only reason I took it in was because I was having it caped and mounted, and I'm not a caper.

Table is updated below.  Opening day is likely in jeopardy.  Lots of good dates available for those sitting on the sideline.

That's ok, got the Bear hunting out of my system years ago.  Still have some good spots on the GPS up in the Arrow head!  Did love me some good greasy bear roasts though!  😋

Yes, I'm on the West End.  No crappies yet, but I caught a couple of Cisco's and some perch this morning. Been dealing with chores at the cabin since 10 AM, so not much fishing.

10 inches of snow in cook this morning. 53 was pretty messy

Hard to tell exactly how much snow the way the wind was blowing it around, close to that I'll bet!  3 sleds went by earlier. Brian, are you on the west end? Did you fish?  Catch any crappies?

I was on the lake this morning. There is still a lot of ice. I went down to the housing on my auger a couple of times.  I'm not sure how much snow we got yesterday and last night but it looks like around 7 to 8 inches at least.
