I did find out those fancy plastic traps are prone to jam and misfire when used in freezing rain/snow conditions.

Is there a spray or something to prevent this? Early winter makes it a problem.

I hear what your saying Del, had it happen last night, but did not have my go to trap, and you must have not tried the Jawz yet. Jawz are simply the best. How can you believe Push Button? First I believe he is violating forum policy by promoting a product and he's a paid Pro Staffer and I'd assume it's pushing 6 figures. He goes to "work" every day looking like a pro Bass fisherman wearing his Jawz jumpsuit, hat, Jawz Escalade with logos all over. If he offered you a beer he'd put it in a Jawz can cooler and he has a Jawz tattoo tramp stamp. He's a pimp for the company and looks like a Nascar driver.

I on the other hand am merely a regular guy with a bucket and a little "Skippy" peanut butter or "Nutella" on a can. Both Skippy and Nutella are fine brands; good tasting, great price and available at most major grocery stores. For more information on these fine brands please email me at:

How does Jawz deal with rain turning to slush and snow and freezing temps? I need the utmost dependability in my gear. I hate it when a potential trophy gets away.

Jawz staff, myself included, is currently testing a prototype that will be introduced next year that will have a heating element running throughout the unit. There will be two options. A standard wall plug in with an optional 12 volt cigarette lighter plug in. For the run and gunners a lithium ion battery will keep us ahead of competition for years to come.

Nutella you say? Have always been using a cheap knockoff, but yeah, I bet paying more would be better. The the improved graphics on the label would be worth the price alone. Any pro staff positions available?

I have been sent to time out two times in my career on FM. One was a long time ago and one was this Summer or Spring I believe. It hurts to get that email and then to have to fall on your sword and apologize. The last time was inadvertent but after reviewing the facts I did realize I had violated at least two of the rules and took responsibility for my actions.

In my cases, it was always one of these threads where passion took over and I lost my head. Once again it looks to be the case. If I didn't care so much I'd bet much better off.

Leech, you may or may not be happy to know that I built a bucket of death contraption like you showed on page 2 of this thread to get rid of some mice in my garage. It's kind of like that game show Wipe Out, although the end result is worse for the contestants.

Only got one so far, but considering I had 5 in regular traps before that I hope it's a sign that their reign of terror is coming to an end. Best thing about your contraption is you don't have to reset the traps every time or really even think about it.Just make sure to smear enough peanut butter on the can and you're good to go. Might have to try some Nutella to lure any final ones out from the shadows though.

Nutella? Does that work better? I have been using Skippy, with black sunflower seeds pressed on the top.

Sunflower seeds seem to catch everything when used in a live trap, except I hope skunks ignore them. Squirrels, rabbits, racoons, possums, and a cardinal have all fallen for them.

My body grip traps are dog safe for sure, and I am on private land. As for baiting being unethical, that depends on the species. I think mice are allowed to be baited.

Del that brings back funny memories. We had a house with mature trees and next to the post office. The crows were so thick our yard was blanketed with crow [PoorWordUsage]. The PD in our town would give you shells to replace the ones fired at crows. Eventually the crows left but there was a lot of dead ones before they did
