One looter who came out of a QuikTrip told The Washington Post that he was proud of what he was doing.

“I’m proud of us. We deserve this, and this is what’s supposed to happen when there’s injustice in your community,” DeAndre Smith told The Post. “St. Louis — not going to take this anymore.”

That was the same person who said St Louis was the last state to abolish slavery

MSNBC is spewing that Eric Holder is needed to be sure that justice is done for the black community......They want what they want and nothing else will do....Fires,looting,gunfire,masks worn by many, and that seems to be OK for the media as well as the black locals..... shocked

Sadly those promoting all this are bringing out the worst in everyone. The resentment is building on both sides and it is hard to not get a pizzy attitude about some of the things that are happening and said. Just like picking scab off of a partially healed wound, sets healing back quite a bit.

We may never see the picture of it unless FOX news get a hold of it. The rest wouldn't dare show it! wink

See a lot of articles pertaining to a broken eye socket.

I think that the rioting should be classified as terrorism and all involved should be detained at gitmo.

I guarantee some of them are even Muslims.

Looks like things are starting to cool down in Ferguson a little bit, much to the dismay of the media who wanted to see it break out into all-out chaos.

I watched reverend Sharpton on CNN over my lunch break. He is a good orator. The rhetoric was toned down a bit. He went after thug culture pretty hard, which was good. He introduced Maxine Waters and other dignitaries, including Obama administration representatives; the administration sent a bigger delegation to Brown's funeral than they did to Margaret Thatcher's funeral.

Obama is obviously racist. He likes young black thugs more than old White English women.

Why isn't the media covering the killing of an unarmed white youth by a black police officer?

The case of Michael Brown, the unarmed, black teenager shot and killed by a white police officer, continues to make headlines weeks after the incident sparked riots and outrage in Ferguson, Missouri, and prompted a national debate.

Meanwhile, the case of Dillon Taylor, a white 20-year-old shot and killed by a black policeman outside a 7-Eleven in Utah has received virtually no media coverage beyond local news reports. His brother, who was with him at the 7-Eleven, says Taylor was unarmed.

The negligible coverage of the Taylor case by the mainstream media prompted many conservative critics to address the racial double standard. The Washington Times reports: "Talk-show host Rush Limbaugh blamed the discrepancy between the two cases on 'the liberal world view' that portrays whites as oppressors and blacks as victims."

The Times noted that CNN news host Jake Tapper acknowledged the discrepancy between the two cases, and noted that "the press often undercovers such topics as inner-city violence and the high rates of black-on-black crime."

According to Tapper, though, the Brown case is more newsworthy because of the national reaction it sparked, though some question whether the excessive media coverage of the violent protests actually served to fuel them.

There are some pretty major differences in the incidents involving Brown and Taylor... yes, they were both young men with shady pasts who were shot by police around the same time.

That's where the similarities end though. For one thing, the Salt Lake city officers were wearing body cameras, so we'll be able to see exactly what went down. Oh. There were 3 officers involved in the Taylor incident, so there's more than one account by officers, in addition to the videos.

I could go on about the broader context of these incidents but from what I've gathered reading this thread, it's probably not a good idea to bring any of that up...

Rand Paul, Others: Demilitarize the Police

"We Must Demilitarize the Police" is the title of a bold article by Sen. Rand Paul at TIME.org.

Written as the troubles in riot-torn Ferguson, Missouri were escalating, Paul says:

"The outrage in Ferguson is understandable — though there is never an excuse for rioting or looting. There is a legitimate role for the police to keep the peace, but there should be a difference between a police response and a military response.

"The images and scenes we continue to see in Ferguson resemble war more than traditional police action. …

"There is a systemic problem with today's law enforcement. Not surprisingly, big government has been at the heart of the problem. Washington has incentivized the militarization of local police precincts by using federal dollars to help municipal governments build what are essentially small armies — where police departments compete to acquire military gear that goes far beyond what most of Americans think of as law enforcement.

"This is usually done in the name of fighting the War on Drugs or terrorism. …

"When you couple this militarization of law enforcement with an erosion of civil liberties and due process that allows the police to become judge and jury — national security letters, no-knock searches, broad general warrants, pre-conviction forfeiture — we begin to have a very serious problem on our hands.

"Given these developments, it is almost impossible for many Americans not to feel like their government is targeting them. Given the racial disparities in our criminal justice system, it is impossible for African-Americans not to feel like their government is particularly targeting them."

Paul quoted others who share these concerns:

Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit): "Soldiers and police are supposed to be different. … But nowadays, police are looking, and acting, more like soldiers than cops, with bad consequences. And those who suffer the consequences are usually innocent civilians."

Walter Olson (Cato Institute): "Why armored vehicles in a Midwestern inner suburb? Why would cops wear camouflage gear against a terrain patterned by convenience stores and beauty parlors? Why are the authorities in Ferguson, Mo. so given to quasi-martial crowd control methods (such as bans on walking on the street) and, per the reporting of Riverfront Times, the firing of tear gas at people in their own yards? … Why would someone identifying himself as an 82nd Airborne Army veteran, observing the Ferguson police scene, comment that 'We rolled lighter than that in an actual warzone'?"

Evan Bernick (Heritage Foundation): "The Department of Homeland Security has handed out anti-terrorism grants to cities and towns across the country, enabling them to buy armored vehicles, guns, armor, aircraft, and other equipment. … federal agencies of all stripes, as well as local police departments in towns with populations less than 14,000, come equipped with SWAT teams and heavy artillery. …

"Bossier Parish, Louisiana, has a .50 caliber gun mounted on an armored vehicle. The Pentagon gives away millions of pieces of military equipment to police departments across the country — tanks included."

Concludes Sen. Paul: "The militarization of our law enforcement is due to an unprecedented expansion of government power in this realm. … Americans must never sacrifice their liberty for an illusive and dangerous, or false, security. This has been a cause I have championed for years, and one that is at a near-crisis point in our country."

Because no one is rioting at least to my knowledge. The story about Michael Brown gained media traction because of the rioting, not the shooting itself. I never heard about the shooting until after I heard about people rioting and investigated the reason.

This has been going on for awhile now. Everyone is worked up over the armored vehicle and clothing? I hate to tell you but it's not Mayberry out there. With some of the things I've read online during the Ferguson riots some people would not be happy until police officers are dressed in T-Shirts and carrying Daisy Red Ryder BB guns.

For instance, did you know that all LAPD patrol cars have AR-15's in them and have for some time now. Their patrol cars also have Kevlar plates in the doors. You don't hear boo out of anyone in LA about this. This is just being brought up because of the mistrust in Ferguson and the media latched onto it and won't let go.

I'm ok with LEO having the tools necessary to keep them safe while protecting the community. Is some of it overkill, yes at times it might seem overkill but the police took gunfire many times during the riots and that alone would lead me to say that I'm ok with armored vehicles in that instance. It's like saying, my kids school has never been hit by a tornado, so why do we waste all the time for drills and have a tornado shelter? It's because we plan for the worst and hope for the best. LEO should be able to plan for the worst IMO.

Actually a lot of military equipment ending up in the hands of law enforcement is a result of the 911 commission recommendations. They found many police depts in the US were not equiped for a terror incident and voila, now some of them are.

Like it, hate it, or don't care about it that's the reason a lot of law enforcement agencies today have tanks, body armor, and carry M-16's. I will say tho that owning that type of equipment comes with a higher level of responsability.

Personally, most of my experience, post 911 and committee recommendations is with fire dept and EMS. I'd have to say a lot of recommendations that somehow turened into regulations were knee jerk at best, un-fundable, and way over the top. But hey, a lot of small town fire depts got millions of dollars worth of gear they'll never use out of the deal.

As soon as I started reading mind went to needles and seats.  You might want to try just replacing those first?  I’ve only done that once before in my life but it made the difference.  A carb refresh in 8,000 miles seems reasonable.

Good luck smurfy!  On getting drawn, I mean!   If it comes down to it, I know a guy that might be interested in a nice hide.

My 30 year-old Indy 500 (over 8,000 miles) has been having a mid-range bog for many years now.  It is worse on warm days and when the engine is warmer.  The sled runs fine up to about 1/4 throttle, then runs extremely rich up to 3/4 throttle.  The spark plugs are dark brown (better brown than down?) but not saturated.  8 years ago I moved the clips on the jet needles from the 3rd to the 2nd groove to lean the mixture and it helped for a while.   Should I move the clips to the top groove (temporary solution)? Could the jet needles, needle jets, and/or the main jets be warn and need replacement?   Don't think I will have time to tear the carbs apart this season for a rebuild so I may just band-aid the problem.

My last hide I gave to my Taxidermist friend to make what ever he liked out of it.   I've got a few fun Bear hunt stories to be told.  All 3 of us our first year stupidly tracking a blood trail in the dark together and getting lost, luckily smelled the bait making circles and got out. 🫣 Flash lights dying, deep in a swamp following a blood trail in the dark, the one who stayed at the bait called us back in!  We learned our second bear! Lol. 😞  Downing a wounded charging bear with the last bullet when tracking, no lie! 😬    Have had my fun!  🥳

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!
