wader question

So I have been looking for new waders with my wife. Unfortunately I can't find ones that fit her properly.

They don't seem to make much for people that are 5'8" and a bit overweight.

Would hip waders work for a majority of the streams in SE Minnesota and SW Wisconsin?

I use the waist high ones from cabela's. I am 5'6", although a woman's hips would be bigger than mine.

From what I have seen, waist high or even hip boots would do the job in much of SE Minnesota. A buddy of mine, avid trout guy, mostly wore hip boots.

I agree. The waist high waders are a good compromise. Truth is, most women and men too are not comfortable wading up to their chest in fast moving water. And speaking on behalf of all older, fatter guys, deep water wadding is a thing of the past.....some waist highs or even hip boots are just fine and will handle 95% of the trout waters I've seen in MN....or many other places too.

You can get waist highs in neoprene too. And, last time I looked, the better wader outfits will even custom fit some for you but it will take some time.

Buy the good stuff if you can.

I am 5 foot 4inches and weigh 200lbs. My waders are from Cabelas for $120. They are the medium stout fit ones. They fit around my legs comfortably, but the thigh area has excess. Works still. Even when I had to walk through 3 foot of snow two weeks ago, it was a pain, but workable.

Just keep looking. Might just need to settle for a semi-fit.
