Scratch that itch!

I went ice fishing this morning, but I still felt something was missing. It just didn't feel right. I went home, made lunch, took a nap, woke up and still felt off. Finally, at 5pm, I figured it out. I need to catch some on a fly.

I only fished for 20minutes or so. I wasn't really targeting anything, but got lucky to hook into a nice pike. I had to leave when I couldnt feel my hands anymore and got side of deicing my guides.

Itch scratched grin

Hey OAF... is that the dam spot?

I almost went there last night after I got back from the auto show but ended up with a box of bbq and the alien movies on HBO...

Nice pike, nice to see ya had a chance to get out!

I was. Probably won't be there until this coming weekend. Supposed be below freezing til then. Come Saturday though...might stop on the way back from the GWE.

I really like how that Gamakatsu hook stuck. The wide gap really makes for a strong hookset. I don't think I'll have any problems with fish coming unbuttoned with those (knock on wood).

Ha. I'll probably swing over there this week just because it's going to be another intense week at work. Good intensity, but still...

Gamakatsu wide gaps are what I have been using for some of my tube fly hooks.

With pike it's rarely the hook you have to worry about.... I'm more worried about them biting me off

The more I look at this thread, the more I think I need to make a concerted effort to get out next week and try for an early season pike. If nothing else, some casting practice with the 10 wt + 400gr would be welcome.

Went back today, all froze up...until you got near the edge. Dam near wound up with a wet foot. Walked away with nothing but disappointment. Lousy cold fronts. See yall at the show tomorrow. I'll be hitting up JP's presentation first thing.

I never realized how much auto correct on my phone screws up my posts!
