You still out there Dave? I'd venture a guess the old furnace will be running overtime again tonight.

I just came in from clearing snow, starting and running cars and trucks, and snowmobiles, and Holy Schnikies is that wind chill WICKED right now!

Be careful and please be safe if you plan on spending the night out on the ice tonight!

Water up on the floor of my skid house when I got there on Friday night. It would have been ugly if I hadn't been up there. I'm up on a little snow drift now. High & dry until the next adventure.

Boxcar,

You pretty much nailed it! rainded thursay late, then it was windy on Friday with freezing rain early then snow and windy till Sat. morning then cleared out and got very cold! Fishing was the worst i have ever had on the lake 20 fish for 2 guys for 2 1/2 days but, i knew it would be bad. Heater qiut working at 5:30am on Sunday morning was glad the truck started! was worried about the house freezing in as there was a lake inder the house so at least we jacked the tounge up to keep that from freezing in. the house jacked up great. It took me 7 hours to get home as the road from Baudette to northhome was shear ice it was a white nuckle for us to say the least it is the second time i have done this in 2 years I will not do it again!

I am so glad I scrubbed our trip last weekend. The ride from Hibbing to the shack in Squaw Lake Friday would have been touchy. The run from Squawville to Baudette would have been white knuckle. Hwy 46 is miserable when the weather is bad.

And with the wind it would have been tough to make headway in your fixed wing as well. You definitley would have been able to land into the wind........loooool

What does the lake look like after this last weekend? Is truck travel off the road still possible? Getting mix reports on what the happen with last weekend storm.

I had no problem driving off-road on Sunday, just watch out for cracks and ice chunks. That's more a product from freeze up than this storm though.

Can you pull a wheel house anywhere without trouble? As long as you watch out for the ice piles and chunks or is it drifted in pretty good?

Many areas have bare ice and than large drifts with some up to 3 feet. Driving is ruff but doable with a wheel house when we came off this weekend. Take it slow though as most of your stuff will bounce around a lot in the house.

We were on Cyrus' road on Sunday. I'm not sure how the clearance of a wheelhouse compares to a normal pickup, I think a truck can get around the drifts and cracks adequately. You won't be going in a straight line. I've got a lifted truck with big meaty tires and we got stuck in what originally looked like a passable drift that was actually a heave/drift combo. 20 minutes of shoveling in -35 windchill wasn't very enjoyable.

Bye looking at those pictures it looked like it was a mess. Glad I pulled my house off on Thursday. Coming up Wednesday, sounds like the lake recovered with the cold weather.
