GPS Chip?

We will be fishing out of Arneson's next month downrigging. I have the great lakes navionics chip which has LOTW on it with low res contours. Just wondering, for downrigging is there any reason to go drop another $100 on the high def lake master chip?

No, in my opinion it would not be necessary now if you were rock hopping and jig fishing it probably would be benifical to have the 1 ft contours. IMO

The high definition only means those lakes that are labeled as high definition are the ones mapped by Lakemaster themselves to separate their mapping from others. Some hi-depth lakes are in 1 ft contours and some are in 3 ft contours

It is up to the consumer to judge if Lakemaster is better than Navionics or vise versa.

If your Navionics is continually showing accurate readings in depth contours I see no reason to switch.

I agree with Wing Ding. I would drop the $100 and get the Lakemaster if you were fishing structure, but for downrigging out on the flats there is really no need for a chip at all. I've been fishing at least 4 miles from any reef so there really isn't a chance to run up onto something.
