I 'have never flyfished in my life (but i'd love to try) I am looking for a long 7-8 ft. rod for fishing sunfish/crappies w/eyelets so I can mount a ul reel to it.. where can I find one relatively cheap?? Im not looking to buy a g-loomis or anything like that. Thanks!

I'd check the fly fishing section of your local sporting goods store.

I've seen folks mount spinning reels on fly rods. A fly rod reel seat is much the same as on a spinning rod. Or you could probably tape the reel to the cork grip.

Fly rods on sold by weight and length. Weight refers to how heavy of a fly line you use with it. For your application, weight will depend on how heavy of jigs or other baits you intend to handle. Fly rods typically run from 8 to 9 feet, so finding one long enough shouldn't be a problem.

The big C has a set up on sale for $60 Scientific Angler. 40% off. If Wallmart still carries them you can get the same price. Just bring print add off the Cabellas site and show them and they will match it.

trouble is where I live there isnt fly fishing opportunities galore like other areas of minnesota.. so garage sales isnt an option. Im lookin at running 2-4 lb mono on the reel as this would be a panfish rig
