Thanks Jeremy and Rick. It's a girl! Mom and baby will be released from hospital tomorrow. While at the hospital I couldn't help but notice that the river was iced over.

Hopefully in a couple weeks I will be able to hit the ice with my little guy. Just need plenty of ice to ease moms nerves.

Like many of you, I've finally iced my first fish of the season. The bite's been pretty good, for crappies and sunnies, anyway.

Hit a few spots on the river with decent luck. Two local lakes provided lots of action but not much in the way of size. I still haven't made it out to the Chain, though....How's the ice out there? Anyone walked out from the winter access?

Was out in front of the cabin again tonight. Dropped the camera for entertainment. The fish were not moving. Saw only 2 eyes, 1 ten pound northern or so, and only one cat. After dark I did ice one 15 inch eye.

Waiting for just a little more ice to go to my secret spot.

Slow night.

Don

It's been mostly perchy results for me on the ice in Avon area with a few crappies .I'm hopeful that these lakes won't be as crowded during the week .Been marking fish mostly in the upper 20's depths.Seems like when I want to go deeper there are around four groups of ppl stationed where I want to fish.lol.Temperature has been real good where I can hole hop with out useing the pop-up much.I will be trying the Briggs chain and more Avon area this week.

Had A great evening on the Briggs chain tonight.I ended up almost limiting crappies and a dozen gills.I used the Clam line of plastics on epoxy jigs and a spoon with live waxes tipped on the ends.Didn't need the spring bobber the fish were hungry and wernt playing shy.I Sat on 9 fow and were swimming in the 6'-7' range.Crappie sizes ranged fro 8"-12".The gills were 7"-9.25"Wow! I'm glad I checked in to the chain tonight!full-45395-39800-imag0571.jpg

Nice job, Jeremy! We are going to have to team up on the Briggs chain soon. There are some dandy fish in there if you can find them.

Nice job, Its refreshing to see someone that cares about the fishery and puts some back. About how much ice? Any wheeler traffic yet? Thanks again for being selective, I love the Briggs chain and worry about how hard it gets pressured in the winter

I think around six inches.I seen someone parked with a wheeler on there trailer but didn't look like it made it to the ice.

I decided to go back to the Briggs Chain and ran in to Tom S. We teamed up and spread apart to find the fish.Fishing wasn't as good as yesterday but did get some. There were a lot of them on the sceen and tried everything to hook in to them.Slush was a couple inches thick with a misty rain.I'm going to go back around Avon area and see what's up,maybe in the midst of the weather coming in.I've had good luck in the past in blizzards

I was out on Briggs today and found something I'd be glad to return if you can tell me what it is. You could send me a pm. No fish today, and not much going on with others I talked to.
