Good work, I spend my whole saturday playing around on the minneosta from basically judson to 7 mile creek. Lots of current. Managed to get the boat in on land of memories. Pulling it out was a different story grin. Will be out again tonight. Only had cut bait, suckers, on saturday. Pulled a 24" channel was all.

Jeff,

Some deep water all along the banks of the dog park now. 30' in the whole area today. So some nice changes there. It sure was nice to be able to fly down the river with a prop...what took me 30 minutes to get to last year took 5 on saturday!!

Also like gordie said, I can already tell where it will be super shallow and wide this year. Approx 2-3 miles heading west on the minnesota from land of memories it will be very shallow.

Very nice! It is too bad that the area there gets fished so hard...it really is a nice area but it got old trying to beat people to "the spot".

The place on the Minnesota down there I hate the most is the channelized area in downtown Mankato. In late summer it's so hard to navigate through there.

Yeah that area is between 8 & 12 ft. Will have to putz through there pretty soon, or jump in a RP.

Those shallow spots have plenty of time to dig a channel through it.

And then in low water there are those huge boulders in the middle of the river and the problem down there is the river straightens out and gets pretty wide and gets so shallow.

I don't think I have the balls to cruise down that stretch in September, but I also have no experience boating the river.

Come september i'll beat a RP to the landing by 30 minutes...by the time i'm close to the mulberry bridge, they'll be fly'n past me grin

Stretch of river gets too shallow for a prop.

Usually i forget going downstream from the landing when the water is that low. Too high of rist losing a lower unit and not being to make it back to the landing.

about 10 nice pesky walleyes on the catfish rigs, tons of sheephead, few perch and one catfish

Judson looks good, granted it is above the Blue Earth and probably didn't have the huge water load that downstream-from-Mankato spots received.

Land of memories landing is looking good now. I went out friday night, backed my boat in. There was enough rain and mud that i had to spin my tires for 3 minutes before i crawled out with an empty trailer! (bonneville and bald tires!) So when we left at 3am i had to scoop all the mud off the slabs and lay down some dry sand. Prayed that that would work!! And i Managed to pull the boat out then without slipping. Water is dropping fast! So far i haven't had any luck upstream of that access. Only down by NSP. Will give it another shot tonight i think.

I was out last night fishing, and about 8pm, I started to notice the current picking up. As the night went on, the lines were getting filled with debris, and noticed large branches, and full sized trees floating down the river. I would assume someone upstream opened the dams up. It sure made fishing the main channel, almost unbearable, and dangerous if you didnt keep an eye on what might be floating at you. I packed it up a little early last night because of this. When out of the corner of my eye, I seen a 40 foot green tree floating by me about 20 feet away. It wasnt fun fishing after that.

they had the rapidan dam openned yesterday just one side but it was flying outta there like white on rice... could be the cause. I fished also but didnt see a difference except for the water temp dropped a couple degree's since the last time out...

I was just downstream of you and noticed all of the debris on lines, and monday night there was none.

Nice night out on the river last night. WWG boated on smaller flathead right away during the pre-front, then the bite seemed to shut off after that line of storms passed to the South of us.

One run and hookup near the end of the night with that fish spitting the hook. Other than that, it was pretty slow.

The flood has really change the landscape of the river in regards to spots I have fished the past few years. One of the spots we couldn’t even fish because the bank that made such a nice current seam is now gone and the current is crashing right into where we used to fish.

I expect to be fishing a lot of new spots this year. Could be a good thing or bad thing. I’m waiting for my first good bite yet, so not a good start.

Where do you put in on thr MN? Under the 35W bridge?

After my rip on you "Kitty Fisherman" I started thinking that with the rivers so close to home it might be a good shs & giggle time. (engine blocks for anchors...)?

I plan on taking my brother out on the river for his first catfish friday night. What do you guys think will happen on the river this weekend with the big cold front? Worth going? (I wouldn't think twice about it if it was just me, but i'd like to get him into a fish on his first time out)

If this cold front rolls in when it's predicted to, Fishing might be tough no matter where you go. If he is fine with the weather being cruddy, I'd give it a shot. Regardless of species, I usually fair pretty well before these cold fronts.

I've been thinking about going out this weekend if I can get some bait in the tank.

Check out the 5 day forcast.... its stating 80% rain all day through 2100 hours then it drops to 50% With winds coming from the east till evening then shifting to coming out of the north at up to 20MPH.

I scratched my trip.

This would make for a tough first time trip..... I really hope you put him on some fish.

Good luck

I'm heading out to the river tonight, hopefully it will hold off for a bit. Either way I'm going to give it a shot, and hope for the best.
