Fishing got tough this week on pool 6

Recommended Posts

Hey all the fishing was good till we got all this rain and the river turned to brown and i do mean brown.I could not see my crank bait in the water after it went down a foot and a half.I would guess the river will stay this color for at least a week or two if not longer one thing we dont need is more rain. The dam is wide open just like it was earlyer this spring and the water is moving fast.As far as a report we were getting fish on wingdams with live bait and twister tails with some on cranks also. The backwater bite was good but with the water as high and dirty im going to stay on shore leave the boat out of the water for awhile till things get a little better out there. Also its getting to that time of the year where i leave the river alone till fall and start fishing some of the fine lakes that MN has.So if you dont see me post as much dont think i quit i have just started my summer things and dont get out as much.Hope you all have great summer and may the fishing god's look out for you.

good report, i got out fri sat and sun this weekend and was suprised at how the water changed so dramatically just over those days. caught a few northern and bass on friday, sat i got one 21inch large mouth and one 22 inch large mouth and that was it for the weekend. i also managed to slip on the boat ramp sunday evening falling into the dock shoulder first landing in the water phone, wallet, and camera all in my pockets. lucky for me nothing seems totally broken, just a reminder to be careful where to step, those weeds and sludge/scum can get slick.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

This is the bait frig at L&M in Virginia, the other day. Also, added Highway 65 bait.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
