Pools?

Can someone explain to me where each pool begins and ends? Is there info out there that gives a general description of this? I am just a once removed northern boy looking for a little help, thank you.

Each dam makes a pool and the numbers coincide. So Pool 1 in upstream of dam 1 and pool 2 is just upstream of dam 2. Pool 4 is the water downstream of dam 3 but upstream of dam 4. I hope this helps.

The pool is the area above the dam that "pools up" because the dam is holding back some of the water. As stated, the pool number is the same as the dam that has created it.

ie pool 4 is the area above lock and dam number 4 up to lock and dam number 3.
