Finally going to give Lake Phalen a little coverage after years of thinking about it. Pike and largemouth are abundant, some really big ones in the lake...it's a deep (95'), clear lake. Because it is part of St. Paul's water supply, no motorboats or cars are allowed on the lake, in the Winter you have to drag your stuff out. Which is a pain, but it keeps the crowds away. Phalen also has some walleyes, but they are hard to find...there are some wall-hangers in there though. I've seen them spawn in the backwater off the lake (actually called Round Lake). So, if you fish Phalen, post your reports and photos...here's a 32" Northern I caught in 13' with a shiner yesterday:

New to area. Would appreciate ice fishing advice
beardybuddha posted a topic in Ice Fishing Minnesota
Just moved to South Minneapolis (three blocks from Minnehaha Park), and was curious what are some decent lakes around the metro area to catch some fish. I'm not picky. I don't need monsters. I'm fine catching the dinks. But I'm not from Minnesota, so my knowledge of Metro Lakes is limited. The woman and I have been out to Waconia and then tried Nokomis a few weeks ago, too. Just not sure how to fish some of these lakes or where to find info, like lake maps, structure, etc. I know a good fisherman keeps great secrets, but any help would be greatly appreciated. -
I lost my ION electrical auger Saturday night on Centerville. I think it was fall off the slide at landing area. If any one has found it. Please let me know. Thanks 612-423-4723 [email protected]

Best tackle shop in the area
northernpine posted a topic in MN Twin Cities Metro Area Fishing Reports - Hunting
Hi Everyone, New member and first time poster. I recently moved back to Minnesota after 11 years away and realized my gear and tacklebox needs to be updated. I was thinking of buying some stuff online to save some money. But, I've never bought fishing stuff online. Has anyone tried that and recommend it? If not, then what is your favorite tackle shop in the Twin Cities area? Thank you for any advice. It feels good to be back in MN and back fishing!
