  1. The wind blew enough to take the lake out of play yesterday so Mike Lindholm and I went back to the Rainy River and with a great tip from Paul Johnson at River Bends Resort we got into some really nice fish. Very nice way to beat the NW winds that howl in the fall. Check it out right here.
  2. https://youtu.be/Vk3WvIS1GN8 In the fall the windy days increase and when the wind blows it blows harder and LOTW can get real churned up. That's not great news but once the wind stops the water cleans up in a hurry and the fish really want to bite. Last week had some real wind that kept fishers on shore for a couple of days but when the winds stops find some cleanish water and the fish are going nuts. On this new NCOR video I will give you some of the spots to look for that clean up quick and fill with biting fish after the wind settles down. Enjoy it and have a great OCT!
  3. Water temps are cooling off already, the front of my shirts is covered in drool because my favorite time of the year allllllmost here.
  4. Even in the heat of summer it pays to check your honey holes....
  5. Just back from the weekend. Needed to change the plan, the water was all churned up, the fish didn't want to bite very well. It all worked out fine in the end. Check it out.
  6. I dug this video out from last years openers. Same spot, same technique. The slot fish weren't in there this year like last year.. Check it out
  7. Shooting some video a week ago and suddenly 3 kids who were fishing nearby went on a walk about like kids do. They stopped by and started to visit and about half way through the conversation I realized the camera was rolling and I was real glad it was. Here is Fishers Talking Fishing In a Fish House, the fishing show about nothing..... Enjoy https://youtu.be/RDsNnavYZAE
  8. Sunday at noon Mark Enge, Jon Vagle and I pulled into the dock and put the open water fishing season to bed. We fished for 3.5 hours and had 17 Walleyes, Saugers and Perch in the bucket. Drained what needed to be drained, unhooked batteries, pulled the electronics, opened all the compartments, put in 3 bags of mothballs and put the cover on.....Done. Just a few miles up the shore from where we were fishing(up in the Morris Point and Light House Gaps) fishing was a lot better than where we were. There are lots of fish of all sizes including some really big fatties staged in the lake right out of the gaps so there must be some shiner minnows out in the lake waiting for the water to cool off a bit more (it was 37 degrees when we went out and 42 when we quit for the day at noon. I think there is some good fishing left to be had but my dance card is pretty full for the next few weeks. It was a good memorable open water fishing season. Now I will look forward to an epic season on hard water.
  9. I was sitting out on Lake of the Woods on Sunday morning, the wind was light out of the North West, the sun was shining and the fish were biting. I wondered why have I seen only 2 other boats? Fall fishing is awesome, the best of it comes on the nice days of course but with Ice Armor on and backs tucked in behind the windshield it is really pretty pleasant. Who else was out this weekend?
  10. Chuck Lundgren of the TRF Lions was on NCOR today to give us all the last minute skinny on Saturdays 10th annual Tournament. Listen for details and good luck this weekend
