20 inch Box Fan

Recommended Posts

I sure coulda used that Box fan in the Galveston Texas area last week when we stayed at a beach house. A/C was cranked inside, but I needed more relief out on the covered deck.

I think that baby made its way up nort, been a bit chilly here in Minnesota. Maybe TRZ moved up there and took the fan, he has not been heard from in a long time!

That might be too much thrust for your boat. I'd suggest a 19" box fan but I haven't seen any advertisements for that size recently. Keep your hopes up!

Could I use the fan in the boat as a weedless trolling motor?

That would be real DUMB as the moister would effect the integrity of the stickers which believe or not is what makes this fan special... smile

You can't put a price on fairy tale stickers such as unicorns and Kansas City Royals. The Royals must be a fairy tale since I forget the last time they were any good.

I don't feel like reading 70 pages of posts... but how has this thread gone on so long?

Question: Does the box fan have large talons?

some of the posts in the first few pages are just simply classic...if you have not read the beginning it is well worth it.

I thought those stickers were put on a Quail lamp shocked

Sorry, those were cheap knock-offs. frown What do you want for nothin? Besides, they weren't put on "a" quail lamp, but "the" quail lamp. grin

My bad. THE QUAIL LAMP YES THE ONE AND ONLY QUAIL LAMP KINDA LIKE THE ONE AND ONLY 20 INCH BOX FAN grin

End this thread and we will never ever know the final outcome of the 20 inch box fan and for anyone that has a 21 inch box fan thats just way to much volume of air that can be pushed across the grill of a fan grin

Have you read any of this thread? You gotta read the first 3 or 4 pages at least. In ordinary conversation it would be very hard to talk about unicorns as much as we have. It's even harder to keep up any discussion about the Kansas City Royals, who usually fold come mid May.

BUT, this one-two punch sticker combination gives a dusty old box fan just the right amount of decoration. Even with the aid of GPS coordinates, the exact wherabouts of the box fan are unknown. I daresay the Smithsonian might be interested if it can ever be recovered.

Was passing the time on Main street here at Lake Iwanttobethere. I was doing some window shopping when I noticed a pale weathered orange VW van slowly driving down main street in my direction. It was all done up in painted flowers and green leaves. It reminded me a lot of my long forgotten past youth. It caught my attention not because of the loud muffler or the vast number of bumper stickers and other stickers which were covering rust spots. But it was what was in the back window as it passed me. There appeared to be a 20 inch box fan pressed up against the glass, it was missing a blade and it sent a chill down my back as I could almost hear it crying out for help. I turn to see if anyone else had seen the van and by the time I turned back it was just making a turn off main street and was gone from sight. Somehow I got that gut feeling that the fan was in some sort of trouble. I soon forgot about it till I saw mention here about a 20 inch box fan. Hmmm

Not sure if there's been any RELIABLE reports on where that fan might be located now, but I'm pretty sure I heard the Gratefull Dead (minus Jerry Garcia of coarse) was going back out on tour. If they come to Minnesota I'll certainly be looking for that VW van! I gotta have that fan!

21 inches is WAY too big. I wanted to cool my deer not blow them away. TRZ has been spotted near Mille lacs, he has a shack at WW. I can ask him where the heck that dandy fan is this winter.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
