Lake Francis - BIG BASS / Lake Lily

Recommended Posts

skeeterluver

Though some of you Bass anglers would like to know that Francis does have some huge bass. As I was out crappie fishing last friday, I landed a 7lb & 6lb bass on a red crappie hook and crappie minnow. A buddy of mine also landed a 7 1/2 lb bass off of his dock on Sunday.

Also, I'm not sure if any of you ever fished Lake Lily, but there was a major die off on the lake this year. I'm not sure if any fish survived. Anyone hear anything about lake lily??

Nope, not on the eastern side of the lake. I was in Wagners bay, sometimes referred to as kaplans bay. If you go into wagner's bay, go the the very northwestern side of the bay. There is a very narrow and shallow entrance into some back water, which is only around 1 -2 feet deep, less in some spots. This is where you can really catch the crappies before they start spawning. And there are obviously some huge bass in there right now. Later....

Skeet, have you landed any gills in that area yet pushing a pound?

My wife and I had a good morning on Friday with bottom bouncers, spinners and crawlers in 20-24 ft.  Caught 9, threw back 3 18-19 in, 2 13-14 in.

I would head over the hill into the back country and fish the streams and lakes. You will have much better success catching fish. Bring bug spray

Lori has some nice gills and some okay crappies normally. Green has nicer sized crappies and gills. Ann lake has been kicking out some great fish. Check out fishing club.

Streams won’t have much of anything to offer this time of year. Maybe a couple tiny smolt rainbows. There are all kinds of shorefishing spots in the area though. Stream mouths are always the obvious spots to try. Spoons and spinners.

How was the trip? I was on the lake Tuesday and the weather was as good as it gets!

For those looking for some decent perch they seem to be hanging in the reeds chasing crawfish and minnows.   Some real dandies in there if you're in the right patch of reeds.  Not many out on the flats yet.

Been a tough bite the last couple days for me. Catching a few here and there but no consistency. Caught fish on crawlers leechesand jigging raps but for the amount of fish I’m graphing not near enough catching All my bigger fish have came on the jigging raps. How is everyone else doing?

Tried my luck on Lory lake for some pan fish. trying to catch a meal. didn’t find any sunfish over 7” and a few 9” crappies. Not what I was expecting hoping for a little better. Might have to try a littler bigger lake for some better results.
