Sunday(01-28) Report.

tearin' lips

Well here it is just like I promised. We got back to D-town around 8:00. We ended up going out of Hunter's Point...Sorry Jim, we were going to go out of appledoorn's, but I was developing a game plan off of a pattern that a buddy was starting to observe.

Anyhow here is how it went...We got fishing a little later than I wanted(8:30), but that's how it goes. Had two eye's fight off the bat. The first in 24' and the second in 30'. Then nothing...after many, many, many holes I found a good school of jumbos at 11:00 in 32-34' of water off the edge of the reef. We caught some really nice jumbos(11-13 inch) for the next four hours. It wasn't fast and furious but the size was excellent and we were happy with what we ended up with. Should have had more and I wanted to work the break for some 'eyes, but around 2:00 the vex decided not to work anymore.

All in all not a bad day on the water. We graphed a lot of fish on the shallower break, but nothing would hit and when the wind came up around 4:00 everything totally shut down for us. It is like someone hit the "off" switch. Definately looking forward to getting down there again soon, in some warmer and more stable weather.

Thanks for the report. Glad it went well. I was out chasing gills yesterday and decided to just fish outside and deal with it. Had to go in the truck a couple of times to warm up, but brought home some nice fish so it was worth it. Were there marked roads to where you went? Thanks again for the report!

Yeah hunters did a good job of marking the roads, it was really nice to have the plows out right away in the morning to clear them. Good to hear that you got into some nice fish as well Coach!

Take Care and Good Luck Fishing!!

Cliff is one of the most forthcoming, informative, and honest posters on this board. Hope he jumps back on soon. He is missed..

I wasn't exactly sure where I can post this, I believe there is a tournament/contest page also, but since it is ice fishing, I thought I'd post it here.   This is our 8th annual ice fishing contest held on Gervais Lake in Little Canada, MN. The lake is just north of Highway 36 on Edgerton street. We have parking in the beach lot and all around the beach area (walk out only). Portables are not allowed to fish in, but to use as a wind break is fine. We have lots of great fishing prizes including a Clam Stealth Thermal two-man, augers, electronics and many rod/reel combos. Tickets are $20 per hole (two hole max), register online or buy tickets at Joe's Sporting Goods, Hardware Hank Little Canada, Little Canada Bingo hall or Little Canada City Hall. www.lcraonline.org

John, give me a call or send an email.   Nils head being blade and mount can be adjusted to account for material taken off from being sharpened.  A Nils might require adjustment for a few other reasons,  one most common is a bent mount.  I take care of that when I have the blade. Wanderer knows not to do anything to the bottom of the blade.

Well that gets you out of making lunch, but not getting unstuck! 😊

You got that right!  I don’t fish Vermillion but have always liked reading the posts.  Log in issues or not, I hope he decides to get back in the swing of things here.   Again, not a big V fisherman but I’m gonna check my calendar for the weekend of the kids event and maybe throw my hat in to help if I can.  I can at least get some lines wet if pointed in the right direction.

Seems like Cliff has been MIA on these boards for a long time!

@leech~~ did buy me a steak dinner at the Ely steakhouse when I took him lake trout fishing several years ago.  He’s not without his charities. 🙂

      Just west of shantytown. 😉😁

Hey @leech could I put you in charge of bringing the beverages, snacks and food? Maybe even bring a little table to set it all up on like a buffet style 😂
