Nice, well happy Memorial to you and the troops. Like I said, you're welcome in my boat anytime.

Sounds good. Be careful over there, there's lots of fishing to do here.

Well, the doc says another two weeks and he'll let me go back to work with no restrictions. However for the time being I got nothin' to do. If anybody needs a fishing partner or would just like some company I am available almost anytime of any day. My motor is in the shop so my boat is sidelined as I am. What a pair we make. I have gear for pretty much anything that swims and am not picky, just like getting out and shooting the bull and catching fish. In case your wondering I broke my foot, I'm off the crutches finally and actually wearing both shoes..what a concept. Hit me up if you need some company.

Is there anyone willing to take a chick fishing?

Am I a fishing pro?--NO

Have I ever fished before?--Yes.

Single social recluse needs to meet people. I have lived in the metro for a year and have met no one. Is there is anyone out there who has the time, space, and patience to take in a fun stranger?

If you don't mind bouncing around in a boat with an older guy and a pair of fishing guides (my two pugs...walleye pointers) I'm game. I enjoy fishing with new fisher people and teaching.

If anyone is interested in riding along and going bass fishing around the Lindstrom area, let me know.

I just moved to this area, so I don't know any of the lakes yet, but I can usually find some fish and the back deck is always open. I get out on the water about 4 days a week, and I work second shift so it's usually morning hours. I have a 19' Stratos boat and if you're just getting into the sport, I probably have some extra stuff for you to use if needed.

My email address is [email protected]

Probably will go out on South Center or Green Lake tomorrow morning if anyone wants to go.

edit--forgot to mention that alcohol is not allowed on my boat.

Nice to see someone else that doesn't like alcohol in their boat. I frown on it myself. I'm out there to fish and to enjoy the surroundings and the company. Alcohal can lead to complications in my opinion.

I agree with you guys. If someone brings it, I'm fine with it. If you get drunnk and are a pain, you won't be invited back on my boat though. I have yet to fish with anyone that brought beer. Most are just there to fish.

Posted

yep, i agree with y'all. I very very rarely mix drinking and fishing. I think once in the 5 or 6 years that I've actually drank alcohol have I fished and drank at the same time. Fishing takes priority... if I'm up to it I'll have a couple beers afterwards

My seat on my buddy's boat got taken for this weekend and I'm looking to see if anyone has an empty spot available for some musky fishing this weekend? Problem is I just moved to the cities from the east coast and dont have any gear/tackle. I know what I'm doing and caught 2 muskies up north this past weekend.

If anyone has a free spot, I'd be grateful.

Cheers,

Phil

I am in the twin cities and would love to go on a boat fishing if someone needs company.

Some things you might want to know.

• I am not really a drinker so I am fine with no alcohol in the boat. I am out to fish not to drink.

• I would help pay for gas, ramp fee, bait, etc. I don’t expect a free ride.

• I love to fish, so any species is open. I fish for the sport (catch and release). At some point I will keep one large trophy fish. That also means if we are crappie fishing and you want the fish I catch that’s fine with me.

• I really enjoy casting powerbait for large mouth bass.

• I am easy going and have no problem with being quiet or can hold a conversation with anyone.

• I work M-F 8-5. Anytime not at work is fair fishing time for me.

• I really like to fish. I would probably be the last to leave the lake if I am catching fish. Meaning I will not get on the boat and ask to go in after being on the lake for an hour. I am very good about trying different spots, different tackle, different lakes, etc

• Probably the most important thing I am respectful. I am not going to get on your boat. Tell you how to fish, where to fish, use your tackle or eat your snacks. If anything I should be bring snacks for both of us! I may know a few things, but have many things to learn myself. I have been on boats with serious fisherman and the not so serious. I have enjoyed both types of fishing trips and always come away having a fun time. I would rather be fishing than doing anything else.

• My goal is to get a boat in a few years after I have room for one. I would even love to consider singing up for some tournaments.

• I don’t currently have the equipment for Muskie fishing, but would put some thought into it.

Hopefully this info helps. I was shocked to find this site today. I am waiting for my registration to be approved so I can post on the forum.

Welcome to FM IWork2Fish. Nice to have you on board. That is quite the detail on you for fishing. I usually have a seat in my boat, but since posting that here have quite a few who are taking me up on it. I still have seats at times so I'll shoot you an email and let you know. I usually send out a group email and the first to respond get the first dibs on it. You would always be welcome in my boat. I tend to fish the Croix River most of the time.

On the South Shore...  Ice fishing remains strong across the south shore of Lake of the Woods out on Big Traverse Bay.  Resorts and outfitters on some parts of the lake have ice roads extending over 16 miles staying on nice schools of walleyes and saugers.  Many fish houses are over deep mud.  Some are on structure.  It is always fishing of course, but overall, February has been very productive for most anglers.   Extensions are being used on ice augers as the ice continues to thicken.  The thick ice this year will be good for the extended ice fishing season Lake of the Woods enjoys with fish houses out through March 31st, walleyes and saugers open through April 14th and a pike season that never closes. Most fishing activity is taking place in 26-32 feet of water.  Anglers are finding a healthy mix of walleyes and saugers, with a good number of jumbo perch in the mix this year.  Some big eelpout are also showing up.  Anglers are reporting plenty of fish for fresh fish frys and usually extra fish to bring home.   The one-two punch of a jigging line and deadstick is the way to go.  On the jigging line, jigging spoons with rattles tipped with a minnow head have been consistent.  Lipless crankbaits and jigging rap style lures also doing well.     Lures with a light have been working well in the stained water.  Please remember, in MN, lures with a light or water activated light can be used as long as the battery is mercury free and the hook is attached directly to the lure and not as a dropper line.     On the deadstick, a plain hook or a small jig with a live minnow 6 inches to a foot off of the bottom.    Some days, mornings are better, other days, it's the afternoons.  There is no distinct pattern, they could come through at any time. On the Rainy River...  The start of the day and end of the day have been best for those targeting walleyes on the river. A jig and minnow or a jigging spoon tipped with a minnow head is also producing some fish. Some big sturgeon being iced by ice anglers targeting them.  It is a catch-and-release sturgeon season currently.   Although ice conditions on the river are good, they can vary significantly due to the current, so anglers should always consult local resorts or outfitters for the most up-to-date safety information and fishing advice. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing has been strong in the islands area of Lake of the Woods. Resorts continue to move their fish houses around, staying on the best schools of walleyes.     Anglers are catching a nice mix of walleyes, saugers, and jumbo perch with an occasional pike or tullibee as well.     Big crappies are still being caught just over the border.  Fish houses are available, check with a NW Angle resort for info on crappie fishing.   Lake of the Woods enjoys an extended ice fishing season with fish houses on the ice through March 31st and walleye and sauger seasons open through April 14th. Perch, crappie, and pike seasons remain open year-round.

Monday was my worst day of winter fishing on Vermilion in the last 4 years.  Caught only one 14" walleye in nearly 8 hours of fishing.  Missed two other bites and was marking very few fish.  Maybe the fish were taking Monday off after a big weekend.   No more water came up on the ice under my house.  Think it was because I haven't banked snow around it for a couple of weeks so the bare ice around the house is getting very thick.  I measured 38" of ice under my house and the Ion barely made it through even with the extension installed.  Needless to say I banked around the house this time.  Another lesson I learned today is don't drill holes if ice is frozen on your blades.  I did that on one hole and it didn't center properly and drilled at an angle on the edge of the opening.  Hope I can correct the location and angle on my next trip up.   Not much change in the surface lake surface conditions.  The drifts may be a little higher and are definitely harder.  There are still a few bare ice spots on the lake.  Very little activity on the lake today.  There are about 3 dozen houses from McKinley Park out to Birch Island.  Another person pulled there house off today, and I am sure many more will pull theirs off this coming weekend.  Only 13 days left of walleye season.
