Hey all,

My boat 'Ginny' is down at Barker's. I am in the process of loading it up. All it had was a Compass so $$$.

I was wondering if anyone close by has installed a Thru the hull transducer. I know it is always easier the second time... Also, anyone near there have a BandSaw to cut the hull angle on the transducer fairing? I don't want to buy one just for this vs. using my 10" chopsaw.

Feel free to stop by for a beverage or two this weekend. It is parked behind thier new big shed. I will launch when I have the transducer mounted. Slip will be E36

Butch, they have a bandsaw at barkers, they cut mine a few years back. I am headed up that way today, I will have to check your ship out.

Tru-Hull ducers have their advantages, running shallow water being the most obvious, fouling with scum from sitting in the water all season is another, although the bottom of the hull is getting fouled too.

I think you loose some signal but the biggest concern is once its set in, thats it. It takes me a few outing to get my ducer tweaked. I run dual frequency and I like marking the downrigger balls with out the 50kHz if possible so I adjust a little for blow back.

ST, Yeah it’s probably a one shot deal.

The transom ones usually take some adjustment. I just like the fact with a boat like mine it will solve and running and reading issues. Most transoms will work when trolling. However, they loose the reading (as u said) to agitation when running faster.

Butch did you get your transducer mounted and your boat in the water ? I wanted to let you know that the guy on the dock next to me called me tonight and will be up there Thursday, and will help me take the boat across the lake, if the wind ever dies down. If you read this post , reply so I know, otherwise I will call you and let you know so you can change your plans. Thanks for the offer to help.
