Lohse: Turning the Corner or False Hope??

Recommended Posts

Down to Earth

Believe it or not the guy went 4-0 with a 2.14 ERA this Spring. The guy actually pitched pretty decent. What are the odds he can keep it somewhat once the regular season starts? If he improves from last year he could turn into a solid #4 guy in the rotation.

He actually had a pretty decent second half last year, too...he may be a serviceable fourth starter. If not, I hope they move Liriano into the rotation sooner rather than later...

I would love to say that Loshe is goning to have a good year but I cant. They wont score enought runs for him again and he will lose confidence again and start giving up jacks. I still like the twins pitching.

I believe that lohse does good every spring, but never caries it over to the season. lets hope he has matured anough to do so. what a picthing staff we could have if he does good.

Lohse, pitched five more strong innings, giving up two runs and two hits while walking one and striking out four. He went 5-0 with a 2.42 ERA in seven starts and gave up only one run in 14 innings in his last three starts.

Buzz, yesterday he gave up two longballs. So thats al least two runs in yesterdays five innings. At least I think thats right.

Well after 1 start it looks like false hope.

4 2/3 innings giving up 8 earned runs.

Well I see Lohse was a flash in the pan in pre-season looks like another below average season for him,now we will really be in trouble with him and the beachballer (radke)pitching the same way as last year.

yup same as last year:

Radke(1-0) winning again.....Lohse(will be 0-1) losing some more

I don't know, I won't seal him to his current fate just yet. He could still get worse before he's done.

You guys tend to forget what happened last year you cant get to far behind at the beginning at that is what is going to happen if Gardy doesnt straighten some things out right now I mean with the White Sox and Indians its going to be tough to stay above water.

I also think that you need to take a step back and realize that there are still only 4 games into the season. Lets not sit here with the finger on the big red panic button just yet. Why even pay attention to the team if you are already condeming them to a bad year after only 4 games?

What does Gardy have to straighten out? What has gone so wrong so far this season that you are ready to start making changes already?

Santana has a bad start we should probably trade him before his next start so he doesn't pull us down. Radke gave up a few early runs before winning his game so we should probably cut ties with him to since he's a liability. The team is only averaging 6 runs a games so we should cut some dead weight and bring in some better bats, and the last dome dog I ate gave me a stomach ache so we better call the health department. OH, NO THE WHOLE TEAM IS IN SHAMBLES...HAS ANYONE SEEN THE BUTTON? WHERE IS THE PANIC BUTTON? PLEASE SOMEONE HIT THE PANIC BUTTON!!!

the twins strong points (pitching) did not do good this week, but a good sign is our hitting looks much better. our pitching will be tops again, so don't worry too much, they will survive.

I started laughing when the Twins went up 4-2 tonight vs the Angels, I told my wife "Lohse will give it right back" and HE DID!! She asked how I knew that would happen? and I said "he's Kyle Lohse". He then continued to implode and waste a night at the park for all the people who paid to see a major league pitcher. the guys a waste of hope and there is an arbitrator somewhere who needs to be hung.

Good call Buzzsaw, though you should have waited another inning to post. Not only did he give it right back, he gave a little extra. 8 runs in 3.1 innings boosting his ERA up over 11.

The offense is suprising me a little. I was skeptical during the offseason about the moves they made. I liked Castillo when they signed him .300 career average and 3 gold gloves is about all you can want in a 2nd baseman. But thats really the only move I thought was good. But everyone is hitting better so far this year. Also we are making productive outs where they are getting the runner over to second or third. I'm glad I have been wrong so far. Its perfect Twins baseball if the pitching comes around. Lohse will be out and Liriano will be in within 2 more trips through the rotation if this continues.

Oh my gosh! I turned the TV off when we were down 8-4 to concentrate on hanging out and playing with my son and I wake up and see we won 12-10!! I love a good pitchers battle. grin.gif

Our whole starting staff has been horrible, a team starter ERA of over 7? At least we are scoring runs, I have to believe the pitching will come around in time. I agree with the sentiment that Lohse is what he is, not good.

Lohse stinks-as usual. Why did we make such an effort to sign him (again). I just don't get it. Throw his rear in the bullpen and put some heat on him to improve, or else. Every time the team gives him a lead to work with, he immediately gives it right back! New year, same Lohse, as '04,'05, etc... It is disgusting, every time I see him on the mound my stomach turns.

I was at that game last night and what an exciting offensive game!!! Too bad the Twins couldn't get me a HR in the 5th inning, I would've won a $300 gift certificate to best buy, instead I ended up with a dvd and a cd! Brought the boy and once again, we scored a baseball from a player. This time it was Punto throwing one up to him. We score some tickets from our broker occasionally and they are right above the runway where the twins will walk in and out of to and fro for batting. The players always gather in there and goof off! Sometimes pretty fun just to watch those guys doing different stuff.

GO TWIN!!

I agree with Rayguy. A lot of ecological changes happening everywhere and I think we’re seeing that on the Whitefish chain. Keep looking for new spots and new structure. Fish are still there. It’ll be interesting to see how Fall fishing goes. I am planning on fishing the next couple of days. I’ll let you know how I do.

Ace is right, no need to run to far to find walleyes! They are all over the East end where you will be staying. The number one rule is "trust your depth finder"! I never fish a spot unless I see a few fish there! Lindy rigs, spinner rigs, slip bobber rigs, and jigs will all catch walleyes that time of the year. Cliff

Thank you, my husband and I usually go to Kabetogama . but we are going to go later, had a chance to go here for the first time(Labor day weekend)and are excited to try it. Found a private cabin to rent very reasonable in that bay.

I fished most of the lake in scout mode today.  Found walleyes early on midlake humps and bars in 18-24 fow.  Got a couple to go on jigging raps but then they shut off.  Spent the rest of the day trying to pin down a panfish pattern.  Found good numbers of sunfish in shallow cabbage beds(6-9 fow).  None were huge but good numbers of 8-8 1/2" gills.  A few crappies are mixed in with them and some are suspending off the break.  There are also good numbers of sunfish in or just outside the reeds.   Most of the sunfish ran smaller though although there were some keepers there too.  Pike and bass I did not target but saw others do so successfully.   Plenty of bass in the reeds and spinnerbaits seemed to be what most were using.   Troll over the weeds and you will be rewarded with pike.

No brush or yard waste burning today through Sunday The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for today through Sunday for northern Minnesota.    As a result, the Department of Natural Resources will not issue burning permits for brush or yard waste for all areas north of Alexandria, including Mille Lacs and Pine counties. Burn restrictions may expand as smoke from the Canadian fires drifts south. For updates and the air quality forecast, check the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency website. If you are looking for Walleyes stay on the east end. There is no need to go running all over the lake to catch them. Daisy bay has Walleyes available as does Big bay which in my opinion has some of the best Walleye fishing on the lake.  Trolling cranks works this time of year, as well as Lindy rigging, or pulling spinners on a bottom bouncer. You can also find some decent evening slip bobber fishing close to where you are staying.  Good luck and have fun, you won't be disappointed.     "Ace" "It's just fishing man".

Anyone that takes 16 years to boat a Muskie most likely doesn't target them all the time.  I average one Muskie every time I go out on Vermilion. It really isn't that hard if you do your homework and do the little things that it takes to be successful. Get out there and cast, cast, cast until your arms fall off.     "Ace"   "It's just fishing man"

Was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on fishing the lake, we will be staying at a cabin by Daisy Bay / Arrow Head point. Not asking for your hot spots, just wondering if the area where the cabin is, if fishing for Walleye is close by. I here talk about east vs. west side. Not sure what that means? Any help would be great.
