Where can I find a good underwater topography map for the Mississippi? I just cant seem to find any online. Any help would be great. Thanks@!

I dont know if there are any for pool 2 and if there was I wouldnt pay much attention to them. The river levels rise and fall so often and sand bars can move so the maps would be obsolete not long after they are made.

You can find maps that show the location of wingdams if thats what your looking for. Check the "wingdam" post in this forum for more info.

That is the beauty of river fishing, humps appear and disappear each year. I 4' indention can wash out to 7' or fill into 2' with each rain or flood.

the USCG has some online that print pretty good, and the DNR has a nice set avalible at there offices. the USCG site is also good since u can get an idea how/why wing dams are where they are. but the best bet is just to get out there and learn it first hand. once u have a good mental picture you can kinda anticipate likely changes. I dont know if ur new to rivers or just looking for more info but if ur new to them alot of trout/flyfishing fishing books have a chapter on reading water that can help out alot. just need a little wind/current interaction, fair amount of caution, one eye on the geography adjacent to the river and a fifteen minute read. then u hardly need sonar or maps. ( i havent turned on my sonar in years). pool 2 is pretty easy most of the river is just sand/silt the bedrock rarly influenceices it. From what i gather this stretch of river is about half way filled with silt. the area below st paul originally had 900 ft bluffs and the deep spot under the rail road bridge is whats left of mamoth falls (10000years ago). Not to relavent i know , but it helps me imagine the rivers goings on and is kinda a neat bit of info i happened on the other day.
