Tip-ups ?

My otter gets a bit crowded with 2 fisherman inside and four holes so I am thinking about trying a Tip-up rigged for crappies.

Now that Northern Season is closed on Red is it legal to fish a tip-up ? I would imagine it would bring some stares and possibly some unwelcome comments but is it legal ?

Its completely legal. If someone does try to report you as "the guy fishing for northerns" just make sure you have crappie sized tackle on there. I know its a no-brainer, but make sure you're using smaller hooks with smaller minnows and light setting for the flag.
