Big Macdonald or little mac

Has anyone been on big or little mac. My in-laws live up in Perham and I have never fished up there. Any help on a good place to try crappies or walleyes would be great?

I'm familiar with Big MacDonald...my grandparents had a cabin on that lake for many years...it is where I learned to fish. It is a decent sunfish lake...particularly in the summer. I know of a couple good spots for sunnies in that lake. Not sure about winter, though.

Not much for crappies in that lake. Some northerns, and some decent bass can be found in the 'normal' places.

As for walleye, they are not particularly plentiful, but there are some nice ones in there. There is a small point sticking out from the west side...fish the weedline on the gradual breaks out from this point, or go a bit south/southwest from the point to find the hump and the deep hole next to it. Work the sides of those until you find fish.

Jarrod32 is right. Not much crappie action on Big McDonald - however, you may be able to find crappies and walleyes on Little Mac. I grew up in the Perham/Dent area and know those lakes pretty well, especially Little Mac. From the public access, you're going to head NW. There is a saddle that I've caught both 'eyes and crappies out of. I'm sure you'll see a couple of houses out there. I always fished the south side of the saddle, usually 15-20 ft. There may be some houses closer to the access; they are probably spearing.

My father used to catch some very nice walleye on MacDonald Lake #2 (also called Schwartz Lake) on the north side of Seclusion Point. There is a break that comes out from the west side thats about 16-19 feet.
