Rainy Lk. Muskies

Recommended Posts

I am aware of the presence of musky in Rainy (Red Gut, Swell, Seine, and Bleak bays) but never caught one. Are there any revealing "quirks" about the lake that can ease the pursuit of catching a musky??? (Not that muskies are predictable, but some lakes, rivers have their idiosyncrasies.......weedy bays in spring, main lake basin suspended summer or slop in summer, rocks, current areas, etc.)

Hopefully somebody more knowledgable will respond here. The areas you mentioned are where you'd likely find them. To target muskies in Rainy I would think you'd want to locate good populations of tulibees or walleyes in areas where muskies are known to be.

But then again if I were to target muskies in this area I would choose a different lake. Certain areas of Lake of the Woods or Dryberry are 2 that I know about.
