Which 7" color sonar/plotter?

ScottND

Question

I want to buy a new 7" color sonar/plotter.

Does the recording type record GPS data and sonar together?

If not then I just want the sonar. Which one?

Funny Steve, I am looking to pick a 25 up at the boat show also. Maybe we should go together and put our heads together for a better price form the MG booth.

Perfect timing again boys! I was just going to post a question regarding the prices I've seen for globalmap 6500's on an online auction site. Does anyone know if Lowrance is coming out with something radically new? I have to imagine that there must be some reason that dealers are getting rid of their old stock because I can pick one up for around $820. I paid almost that much for each lcx I own! The globalmaps used to be around 1200-1500 at the start of last years fishing season. I already have a lcx-18c on the bow and lcx-20c at the tiller, and just want a bigger screen to serve as a mapping unit with my chip.

Uh-O, I think I'm gonna need a bigger alternator blush.gif

$1249 with dual freq transducer and GPS module, hoping to get it to $1100. ND if you can get the whole package for that then I would jump on it.

Scott, have you checked out e-bay lately? I found two on there right now for under 1100. Dual freq, includes antenna, BIN 999.00 Worth taking a look...

No problem. Cheffery it may be a July Birthday present for me. I dont have a Grand plus to toss out now. The better half would be putting a matress in the garage if I did it now. blush.gif

Ill sell my other 2 graphs and see what I come up with. Ill keep the 15 for the bow.

Be careful on ebay with some of those items. There are high priced sonar units with MSRP over $2,000 and the ad says to email a person and purchase it directly for $500. These are 24 hour auctions too. smirk.gif

Turns out they reply via email saying send $500 via Western Union and once payment is received the product will be shipped from Europe.

That has scam written all over it...once you send via Western Union, you just kissed all that money good bye.

It also appears these scammers are hijacking ebay users accounts somehow. Sonar units are listed for sale in women's apparrel - purse sections of ebay....

Scammers need to go. mad.gif

Hey Steve/Cheffrey,

Boatshow price will be 1099 for the 25c, was at MG over lunch and they were moving everything out for the next 3-4 weeks of shows. The premium chip will be 129 they said.

Ya thats as cheap as I have seen it anywhere. What does everyone have to say about the new 334c with the gps antena built into it? May be worth a look as well.

ChuckN I agree, I took a look at what this guy was offering with a great feedback rating and noted there is no way this oculd be true with listing high expense items at a minimum cost with limited past sales. The guy was listing 3 items a minute for all of his items to end in about a hours times.

Ohoh...here comes the H....... word.

After looking at Cabelas today and knowing Minn Kota now owns Hummingbird I had to look. (the word is they also have Bottom Line and Cannon downriggers shocked.gif)

I think I'm going to go with a Hummingbird sonar and a lowrance plotter so I can run Lakemaster cards. smirk.gif

You can run Lakemaster in your Lowrances too just not the new Navionics in the older ones.

I'm glad you mentioned the whole "email me now for a price" scam that has been going on recently. Yes, they've been hijacking accounts. I've been emailing the owners of the accounts that get hijacked and letting them know that someone has their password. A few people have written back to me, one guy said his account was stolen after he responded to one of those "your account has to be updated" emails. The scammers put the auctions in other catagories to hide them from the owner and from ebay. One guy did his part by bidding on the auctions with the username: THIS_IS_A_SCAM_LOOK_AT_THE_CATAGORY. cool.gif The scammers just switched to private auctions so the bidders names don't show up. I don't worry about using ebay when I use a credit card, not my check card mind you. And I will NEVER settle a transaction off of ebay- no matter how good the deal is. I wish ebay did a better job of policing their store. I've tried writing to them, but you just get an automated response. mad.gif Still, some of the deals I've found there have been awesome. You just have to be careful.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
