NEED RIVER DOCK ADVICE

I recently moved into a house on "The Might Crow" and am planning on putting in a dock. Can anyone give me their opinion or advice on what type of dock system I might want to consider. I am assuming that I need something that will flex with the river as it goes up and down and I will also need to remove it for the winter to avoid having it removed by spring ice out. I am planning on using it mostly for canoe and/or a small motorized boat. (Maybe one of Kevin's jets when they are available.)

A floater of any kind, depends on what you have for water in your backyard. I started out with a fixed dock and would NEVER do it again on this creek. My dock got reworked with Menard's floats, if you're lucky they are still on sale. Feel free to come on over and we can talk about what you have and why I like mine. There's a high end system out there at about $1000/section but I'm not sure thet's what you need.

my father in law has a place on the mississippi and he also has a float dock its an L shape and works really good. I tie the jon boat up to it and he ties up his jet boat without any problems.

One thing that you might want to watch for is an old pontoon boat. If you watch the "Thrifties" in the paper or any of the Want Ads you can sometimes find one for pretty cheap - at least for about what you would pay for a good dock system. If you have any current where you are all you need to do is put in a super heavy anchor and chain up to it for a good permanent floating dock.
