I've only fished Mille Lacs a few times in the winter and it's usually late season. I'd like to fish Mille Lacs one day this weekend but don't have a 4-wheeler or snowmobile. Can anyone recommend some areas that I could walk from with a decent chance of catching perch or walleye? I have maps and don't need exact spots. If you don't want to post, email me at "jbranson at beckman (Contact US Regarding This Word)".

You could walk out from garrison and be on decent water before you cross the heave. Q

in past years ive walked out from cedar creek access on the east side. have had good luck for walleye and perch. i wanted to go today. the plan was to meet two guys in the early afternoon to get set up for the evening bite. they called me from boot flat and had caught one 15-1/2" and a couple smaller. that was at about 9:30 or 10:00. they left mpls at 4:00ish and didnt get to start fishing until just before he called. they crossed two ridges on one 4 wheeler pulling two otter fish houses. on one of them they only made it thru because one of them thought to use the ice chizzle and a rope as a lever to wench the load... as of this writing i havent heard any more. i would love to go tomorrow but there are a few things i need to do in the morning that could take until afternoon. i want to be totally set up and fishing by no later than 4:00 when i go, preferably sooner if possible. being im not much for walking anymore, im praying for some good ice for driving. also, i have a H2Oc w/navionics chip on order that wont be shipped until monday. i sent the order in last tuesday. when i called today they said they are receiving a shipment from lowrance on monday and thats when theyll ship it to me. thats called "internet lag" but its a good deal! thank you to whoever it was that directed me to it from this site. i really appreciate all that everyone contributes, thank you.

Fishing out by the Subway can be very good. I haven't caught many walleyes out of there but good numbers of perch for the past 10 years or so. Usually early and late in the year. I'm also praying for drivable ice to get out to the flats. That is the place to be. Four wheeler will come next year. Hope to be out next Friday.
