North Side Report

Got out yesterday on the northside for an afternoon, didnt start fishing until a little after one, 8 to 10 inches of ice, good clear ice too, there were a few busts that were shifting a little bit.

Plan was to go out and auger some shallow holes and then head out to the deeper water and look for some perch.

Working 20 feet of water with Glo-devils, angel eyes, demon spoons and some other baits was what was working. The biggest fish came on the Glo-devil in red, tipped with a fathead head.

Last half hour of light or so, we moved up to the rocks and was only able to pick up two walleyes, I think they have started to leave the early ice spots. I will find out thursday when we start going to the mud flats. I was very satisfied with my LX-5 and LX-i, walking around with the hand held checking depths and looking for breaks is a whole lot easier then dragging an auger around.

The Super fine line and the 5 foot zoom features were very nice to have, very nice picking up the perch hugging bottom and getting a nice clear view of the bottom.

One from the afternoon

hey lilman those are some nice fish in the pics, thinking about going up for the day tommorow for the day on the northside, how many fish total did you end up with, just kind of wondering if it is worth the hour and half drive or if i should fish somewhere closer, thanks for the info.

We had a lot of fun!

Chris-

I would think it would be worth it, I am making the trip on thursday, but I am leaving early to catch the morning bite on crappies on a lake a little farther north, then venture down for some perch and then either head over to Farm Island or stick it out on Mille lacs for the evening eye bite.

I usually dont like to post numbers, but I did keep a limit of perch. I did a lot more moving around then the other two guys, they sat in the house and fished, had a good time, I kept moving, five or six fish from a hole and then I would move, of them five or six fish you get one about 9 1/2 or 10 inchers up to the footballs and kept going. So I fished until 5 pm and then left, I had a final for college the next day, so I wanted to study.
