hey guys right now leech lake is covered with five inches of ice, with the smaller bays haveing 6-7 inches of ice. I have fished many years on this lake on the ice and open water. I have had the best luck early in the ice season. if your looking for walleyes any hump or steep drop off can hold them. They are catching walleye from 16-42 feet deep. Guys are catching alot but have to release a good amount because of the new slot(14"-18" with 1" over 26" with a limit of four). If anyone goes out let me know how you do.

We are going up on the 30th thru the 5th, have you heard how much ice we can expect? we have a cabin in agency bay but we usually fish walker or the points between walker and agency. Also, what other lakes in the area would you suggest? For the first time in what has been an annual trip-up north with the new (3 years), inlaws( soon to be), i've got the "o.k."to plan on an"ice fishing trip" instead of the usuall "beg to go out for more than half of one day while we are up there thing"! In fact I'm bringing some friends with just for the ice-fishing! anyways, after 1 1/2 months friday is almost here and I would like to put them on some eye's or at least the best chance for some eye's. I tourny fished on woman in open water and know that lake well but the fishing/moving/fishing/moving might get alittle old with my rookie friends. Nuff said, what would you suggest? thanks for any help and if you need info from the south central give me a halla...

as of last night walker bay has about 10 inches of ice. I have fished many of the humps in walker bay, and any hump that comes up to 40 feet or higher will more then likely have walleyes. Also a good spot is south of stony point called grassy point in 18-22 feet of water there is only about 8-9 inches of ice there. I also found out that a green jigging spoon like an Angel Eye Jr or Go Devil will catch them right before dark, then they seem to like a green or pink jig like JBs Glitter Glo #2.

I found these spoons and jigs at OutdoorProStore.com

If you use a four wheeler watch out for slush pockets so you dont get stuck.

Good luck let me know how you do.

Heading up to LV a week from today with the kids. Any advice for us? Staying on the West side but open to traveling if the weather permits.   The way the last few weeks have gone, might stay for good!!!

Do have Wi-Fi in your house. Your going to need that to work with any of the cameras that send a signal and video to your phone.  Hardwire is the best but battery power workers well for about two months then you have to pull them and recharge them.  It is nice to sit on a beach in Key West and keep an eye on your house when gone! 👌

With all the craziness in the world I’m looking at getting an outdoor security camera setup for my home. Anyone have ideas on what works well without a huge cost  and easy to do . Or is it better to go with a company to set it up.  We have recently had copper thefts in the area at farmers fields and bin sites and I know it will only gat worse as these things always do. I probably want something that hooks up to my phone as well and wondering if there is a good one with either battery life or if wired is better. Any thoughts are welcome.

Aren't they the ones that ran into problems about illegal bait? Anyone know how that turned out?

You launch on Moose Lake to get to the motorized portage. It's called Prairie portage. To get to the portage you put in at Moose Lake. From Moose you go into Newfound Lake. From Newfound you go into Sucker Lake. On Sucker is where Prairie portage is. There is a dock on the American side and on the Canadian side there is big sign welcoming you to Canada. Latourell's Resort runs the portage and the cost for the portage is $40 for a round trip.

Will that blond haired kid have that cool little orange boat in the show this weekend? Saw him driving around by Muskego Point a few times this summer.

Nope, there are parts of Basswood that allow motors.   Entry is from Fall Lake, and there is (I think) a motorized portage.   It is really popular in the spring...
