Rainy ice fishing

Recommended Posts

Got a few questions:

Is there a night walleye bite through the ice?

Any resorts offer sleeper rentals? Rates?

The last few trips to lotw offered poor service and lackluster fishing. Looking to upgrade our "guys fishing trip" this year. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks.

For whatever reason Rainy is not known for much of a night bite anytime of the year except for what might range from a few nights to a few weeks in October and possibly September and November. My own theory is the primary forage base for walleyes in Rainy is ciscoes and not perch. Perch are very easy for walleyes to pick off at night. Another theory is the dark stained water.

If you are ice fishing Rainy for the first time I would suggest hiring Woody of Woody's Fairly Reliable Guide Service for a day or two. Not only does he know the lake, but as you can tell from the name you will likely have fun too.
