Scope eyepiece adjustment

Recommended Posts

Could someone please refresh my memory and briefly describe the correct process for setting a scopes eyepiece? What do you do, what are you supposed to see, etc? Thanks.

On the ocular end of the scope, the end you look into to sight, the eyepiece should have a lock ring that butts up to it. Loosen that ring so you can turn the eyepiece.

Lay the weapon in a cradle( make one out of towels) and aim at an object about twentyfive yeards away. If the object appears crisp and sharp , you need to do nothing more than re-tighten the ring. If it comes up fuzzy, turn the ocular housing one way or the other until your object is clean and sharp and tighten the ring.

You are good to go then. Variable power scopes should stay clear after this adjustment is made, but both of my Bushnell Trophies have an adjustment ring for clear focus that requires no tightening.
