Mississippi River by SCSU

Now that the river is fairly low I've been fishing the holes and eddy's I've found near SCSU. It seems like the only thing I can catch is 13-14" eyes, what's the trick to landing bigger ones? Closer to the dam or further from it? Main current or slack waters? I've also been using cranks, no live bait.

Always...

First of all there is a big year class from 2001 out there so it is not uncommon..... That said. try the "glide" areas of the holes... basically the back ends of larger pools where the slope goes upward instead of down. this area can be very productive fir all walleyes but you should run in to a couple of larger fish too. Good luck!
