Anyone know if its ok to put a boat on that lake? I see a lot of people fish from the shore but never a boat.

You can not use a boat, but they didn't say you can't use a helicopter!

Since this is St. Paul's water supply.. I thought you can't fish it period! Am I wrong on these facts?

Fishing from shore is OK but you cannot use a boat or ice fish on the lake. I've gotten some nice crappies and walleyes on the lake but usually early in the season before the weed growth gets too bad.

Sly -

A portion of Vadnais is open to shore fishing only. No boats, no wading, not sure about helecopters. Same for sucker lake that flows into it. Sucker is fed by Pleasant Lake in North Oaks. Pleasant is completely closed to fishing.

Check out some of the previous threads to read about the bounty within Pleasant and Vadnais. All of the lakes hold some lunkers, but they are well protected.

It seems odd that they wont let you wade in the lake but they will let you chuck lead jigs in there. I am not sure why they wont allow trolling motors or canoes in the lake, St. Paul gets a tremendous amount of drinking water from the Mississippi, isnt that a pleasant thought?

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
