Anyone know of some good panfish lakes around that are accessible without a boat? I've always fished Clear Lake in Waseca, but with the bacteria/Crappie issues there right now, I'm a little hesitent to head back there (at least for a little while). Thanks!

Well, I don't have any secret lakes.

I've caught several sunnies off the public access dock on German. I usually cast to the left weed bank. I haven't tried the other access point which is just to the right of the boat access.

There's also a strange, small lake called Roemhildts. This is just south of German and has a public access. I was there about 10 days ago and it's like fishing from an aquarium. Very clear water, but it is weeding over big time. However, the lake is full of sunfish. They're very small - less than the size of your hand.

But if you want to bring the kids out for a fishing trip, put a small hook on and let them have the time of their life!!

By the way, a couple of the boaters I've met on Roemhildts say that very nice northerns can be caught off the reeds to the left of the public access.
